1. Miss Frugal really wanted to go to a Firework display last night but the one in our town wasn't on this year and the only ones we knew about in nearby towns are notorious for the gridlocked traffic getting out of the areas afterwards. So instead of driving to one of these displays, we put our wellies on, wrapped up and headed to the beach with the dog where we got to watch hundreds of fireworks going off across the whole town. We didn't even have our usual sparklers in the garden this year but I liked last years photos that much that I thought I'd share them again. ;-) 2. We … [Read more...]

125+ things to do this October Half Term….
Keeping the kids occupied during the October half term can be more challenging than during the rest of the school holidays thanks to the often miserable weather so I thought I'd put together a little round up of a few of my posts to give you some ideas on what you can do to stop the usual 'I'm bored' whinges.... And then there's this post which features five of our favourite cooking with kids recipes and these ten posts which are about little DIYs that Miss Frugal has done recently. And I always find that our bored jars come in very handy at this time of year.... … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {24th October 2015}….
I usually sit down on a Friday afternoon after work and have a good think about what I've done that week to try and be more frugal and thrifty that's interesting enough to be included in that week's Five Frugal Things post. I didn't get chance last night though as I was too busy doing number 1 on my list, so I'm a day late but here's my five frugal things for this week.... 1) I got a new settee which is usually not very frugal but this one was given to me by my Dad as he bought it for himself not long ago and has now decided that it's too big for his Living Room. It's immaculate and … [Read more...]
Five UN-Frugal things I’ve done this week {9th October 2015}….
Every week I tell you about five frugal things I've done to save some money and whilst some things might not be as frugal as others, everything I share is something that I think is frugal or thrifty for one reason or another. But I wanted to do something a bit different this week, I wanted to share some things I've done that aren't very frugal at all - not because I haven't done anything frugal but because I don't want you to think that I'm some sort of frugal wonder-woman who excels in all areas of frugal-ness (is that even a word). 1. I bought a packet of Lemsips - … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {2nd October 2015}….
1. I've up-cycled a cake board into a memo board this week which saved me throwing away the cake board! You can have a read about how I did it here if you fancy having a go yourself. 2. We're now into our second week of feeling under the weather but I'm pleased to say that we have (almost) stuck to our meal plan which is no mean feat when you have as little energy as I've had this week! There was one night when I replaced what we had planned for dippy egg and soldiers because I just couldn't face cooking (or actually leaving the sofa for more than two minutes to be honest) but for the … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {5th September 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I know I've already mentioned this in my post about our visit to Mount Grace Priory last week but we've got ourselves an annual family membership to English Heritage which means we can get into over 400 sites across the UK without having to pay anything other than our monthly Direct Debit which will be less than £8. We've already had two great days out which would have cost around £50 if we had paid entry so in one week we've already got some great use out of it! 2. Remember the fruit and veg that we bought when we got lost last … [Read more...]
