I'm a bit late this week aren't I? It's just been one of those weeks this week and I've had so much going on that even as I'm starting to write this post, I'm not sure that I'll manage to find five frugal things that I've done. Fingers crossed.... 1) I was tempted to treat myself to a new handbag this week to cheer myself up (trust me, it was very much needed) but instead I used my Boots Advantage points to buy myself a lovely little Ted Baker makeup bag for free. 2) Ready made jars of sauce aren't always a bad thing - especially when this come with this free curry … [Read more...]

Five Frugal things I’ve done this week {4th March 2016}….
I'm quite pleased with my frugal efforts this week. ;-) 1) I had a bit of a kitchen cupboard re-arrange this week and realised that I really needed to get a bit more organised with my storage as I have things in the cupboards that I use all the time and things on my lovely kitchen shelving unit that were there just because they were pretty. I was very tempted to buy some more of the gorgeous Orla Kiely storage containers that are on the top shelf in the picture below but they're not cheap and I couldn't justify the price so I decided to re-use other things I had already for storage. I … [Read more...]

What do you serve as a accompaniment to your main meal on a night? When I was younger we used to have chips or potatoes with just about every meal but the meals that I serve to my children are completely different - for a number of reasons but mainly because they just aren't huge potato fans. We've found lots of other alternatives that we can serve with a meal and I thought you might like to see some today.... Five Frugal things I’ve done this week {26th February 2016}….
How on earth is it nearly March? 1) I bought a of pack of ready peeled and chopped swede reduced to 37p from the shop the other day and made a gorgeous curried swede soup which was delicious. It was just what I needed for lunch when it was -1 c outside! 2) I went to Ikea at the weekend for a look around to get some inspiration and ideas for our house this year and although I came away brimming with ideas, I actually only spent £2 and that was on a gorgeous little plant pot type thing that I'm using as a pen holder at the moment. I even used my Ikea family card to get a free cuppa … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week {19th February 2016}….
It's never easy to be frugal over the school holidays but I don't think we've done too bad a job.... 1) Miss Frugal has become a bit of an expert in pizza making lately and proudly managed to make us all one for tea this week with no help at all. It's quite easy to make and is super tasty as well as being a pretty cheap family meal. She uses a super simple recipe which is: 125g bread flour, 7g yeast packet 75ml warm water All mixed together and kneaded for five minutes before rolling out to a thin base) Served with some sweet potato fries and a salad (I say salad - it was … [Read more...]
Five ways to make sure you get a bargain on this year’s Summer holiday….
Are you planning a family holiday abroad this year? We were planning a week in August (the only time off we all have together this year) but the prices were sky high so we ended up booking to go away in this country instead but Miss Frugal and I are having a cheeky long weekend away in the sun in April instead. It was only us who wanted to go away really as the men of the house aren't fans of the heat or the travelling involved so we decided to get away for some girly time together - I told you I was going to do things that made me happy this year, didn't I? We got an AMAZING deal when … [Read more...]
