Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I've been wanting to visit the South Lakes Zoo for ages as we've heard some great things about it but it's a good few hours drive away from us so we've never actually made it there yet. Every now and again though I do have a quick search to see if there are any deals around to get the entry cheaper as that would help convince Mr Frugal that it would be worth the long drive. I managed to find a great deal this week which offers entry for the four of us plus some animal feed for each of us for the bargain price of £15 which seems like a great deal … [Read more...]

Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {29th May 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. Contrary to popular belief, I'm planning on making more than just mojitos with the mint in my new little herb garden (actually mojitos was my plan but Miss Frugal had other ideas). So this week, we've made mint lemonade which I'll be sharing with you at some point over the next week and after that was a success we even made blueberry version. It tasted delicious - even more so because we made it with our own mint! 2. The kids and Mr Frugal headed off to Wembley on Monday to watch their beloved Boro play in the Championship play off. They … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {15th May 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. Miss Frugal has a bit of a weakness for Lush bath bombs, which are far from frugal at £3+ per bomb. She often asks for them for Birthday's and Christmas and regularly spends her pocket money on a treat for herself. She bought herself one a couple of weeks ago and she's been saving it for just the right time which was apparently Wednesday night. I knew she was using it in her bath as I could smell it from downstairs but what I didn't know was that she had decided to cut the bath bomb in half with a knife so she could have two baths with it … [Read more...]

I think I'm going to struggle with my five frugal things post this week because we've all been ill since last week. Me and the kids are wiped out from lack of sleep due to all our coughing and sniffling and Mr Frugal had to be brought home from work suffering from a severe vertigo attack! Thankfully, we're all on the mend now and counting the hours to the weekend so we can have a good catch up on all of the sleep we've missed. Let's see if we can actually get to five.... Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I bought some Asparagus tips reduced from £2 to 20p at Tesco last night - … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {10th April 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. The kids are currently enjoying their second week off school and although I've had to work a few days this week, I have managed to sneak in a few days holiday this week so we've been trying to have as much fun as possible for as little money as possible. We've done lots of free things this week like trips to the beach, trips to the park, bike rides and we've even taken advantage of Miss Frugal's bargain child gym membership for lots of free swimming. We spent a lot of time on the garden over the Bank Holiday weekend so they've also been spending … [Read more...]
Five ways to make your freezer work for you….
You don't need to have a big freezer to make your freezer work for you - trust me, I know this from experience! With a little bit of organisation, the smallest of freezers can help make life easier for you. Batch cooking This is a great one, especially if you use your slow cooker a lot. I regularly make extra portions when I'm cooking things like chilli, mince and bolognaise and I pop a family sized portion in the freezer ready for another time. It means that I have a homemade 'ready meal' sat waiting in the freezer when I need it which is a godsend when I finish work at half two and rush … [Read more...]
