These are my favourite cupcakes so far by a mile - you can tell just by the name of them that they're going to be yummy and I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Peanut Butter Brownie Cupcakes The recipe for the brownie batter I use is here - it's the one I use for brownies all the time but I wouldn't add the chilli if you're using it to make these cupcakes. The only other thing you need is peanut butter. 1. Make the brownie batter according to the instructions in the other post. 2. Spoon a little of the brownie batter into the bottom of each cake case. 3. Add a dollop of … [Read more...]
Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Slow cooker sausage, bean and chorizo casserole….
I should quite probably win the award for the longest title to a blog post with this one! Is there an award for that in the MADs? If not, Sally then you should take note for next year ;-) Anyway, I've had an interesting week this week and *mostly* managed to stick to last week's meal plan so I'm ready to go with next weeks. We're starting to eat more Wintery type food seeing as it's October and the heatings back on so this week's menu has a lot of what I think of as comfort food - not sure how that's going to work with my diet though. Monday - Sausage, chorizo and bean … [Read more...]
Cupcake Sunday – Lemon and Ginger Cupcakes….
We're loving Sunday's since we started Cupcake Sundays, although I can't say that they're doing my diet much good ;-) Today's cupcakes of the day are Lemon and Ginger Cupcakes and they're quite possibly my favourite ones so far! They were inspired by a lovely lemon and ginger tea from Teapigs that I've been drinking this week. 150g butter 150g sugar 150g self raising flour 3 eggs 2 lemons 1 and 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger Icing sugar 150g cream cheese To make 15 cupcakes: Cream the sugar with the butter. Add the eggs and beat the mix together. Add the juice and zest of … [Read more...]
Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Stir fry advice please….
I'm starting to feel a bit more like myself again after a week of feeling like someone had stamped all over me and sucked out all my energy (drama queen, me?). we didn't really stick to our meal plan at all last week and we actually ended up having McDonalds on two nights when Mr Frugal was at work as I didn't have the energy to even open the fridge but that can be our little secret ;-) Anyway, this week I'm determined we're going to stick to our plan 100% and there will be no McDonalds! Monday - Macaroni cheese Tuesday - Beans on toast as we have multi sports club for an hour from … [Read more...]
Cherry bakewell cup cakes with The Great British Bake Off….
I'm loving this series of The Great British Bake Off, as are most of you guys judging by the #GBBO chat on Twitter every Tuesday night ;-) Not only can you watch the show on your TV on a Tuesday night and buy the Showstoppers recipe book that goes alongside it (it's brilliant, I have it), you can now also get the Great British Bake Off App which has just been launched. The App is great and features stacks of easy to find, easy to follow recipes from Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Well worth checking out. To celebrate the launch of the App, myself and nine other bloggers will be … [Read more...]
Cupcake Sunday – the cupcake birthday cake….
Last week I wrote a post about how to ice a cupcake and this week I was planning to make lemon meringue cupcakes as part of my new Cupcake Sunday feature. Except I haven't had time to sit down since I finished work of Friday afternoon, let alone make cupcakes as it's was Miss Frugal's 10th Birthday party today and I've been rushing around all weekend trying to get everything sorted. I do still have a cupcake type post though because Miss Frugal opted for a cupcake cake today instead of a normal shop bought cake. This is the reason for my crash course in cupcake icing last … [Read more...]
