I can't believe that we're nearly half way through March already, it's just flying by and it seems like only yesterday that we were seeing the New Year in!January and at least half of February passed us by in a blur of germs and illness (you probably already know this though as I moaned about it at least twice a week on here) and then I started my new job which meant another few weeks went by in a blur of business and extra hours at work and so far, March is disappearing just as fast without me having a chance to slow it down. And on top of the general business of life at the minute, … [Read more...]

A very modern Mothers Day….
Generally I'm not a big fan of Mothers Day.Don't get me wrong though, I love the homemade cards and the cuddles that I get and I certainly don't object to the gifts but special days make me remember what I don't have. I don't have my Mam any more and although she's in my thoughts all year round, days like this focus my mind on her much more than usual. Facebook had me almost in tears this morning as almost every post is someone saying Happy Mothers Day to their Mum and I desperately wish I could do the same! But I can't so today, I'll be keeping very busy and enjoying all the love … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – with a lot of help from the slow cooker….
Yeay - we've successfully got through another week without illness! I think the germs may have finally got the hint and left us ;-)It's a bit of a busy week this week, I started my new job today so am working full time for a little while until I'm up to speed with my new role. I'm really looking forward to the job itself but not sure about the longer hours - even if it is only temporary. I have a feeling that the slow cooker is going to really earn it's keep this week!Monday - Tonight we had fish and chips using the lovely breaded fish fillets that we got reduced from £4.00 to £1.45 … [Read more...]

I look forward to seeing what you're all cooking this week....I'm sharing a recipe today that I know I've shared with you before (probably every pancake day for the last couple of years I expect) but it's so good that I knew … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the comfort food week….
Why is it on cold dark nights like we're having at the minute, when you just want to come home and snuggle on the settee with a mug of hot chocolate, we seem to have more planned than usual? Answers on the back of a postcard please! Another busy week coming up this week for us so if we have any hopes of eating properly, the slow cooker is going to be earning it's keep over the next few days. Sunday - We finally got around to trying the pulled pork recipe this week and it was totally worth the wait! I'll be blogging the recipe later in the week when the new recipe linky that I'll be running … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the last stretch before payday….
We've got another busy week ahead of us this week and seeing as January pay day still hasn't arrived, I'll be buying as little as possible when I go shopping for this week. I try and make sure I always have plenty of what I call 'the essentials' in the cupboard - things like rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, tinned tuna and stock cubes along with things like mince and chicken in the freezer because you can always make something if you have these in. But we're even starting to run low on these things and this week's meal plan will probably finish off my supplies so I'm looking forward to pay day … [Read more...]
