Salt Dough Decorations….
After watching Kirsty's homemade Christmas last week i felt inspired to make some salt dough decorations of our own. Now before we started I had my usual Domestic Goddess visions where I pictured our decorations as stunning works of art! As usual with my visions - the results were nothing like I hoped but we had fun making them so it was well worth it.The dough mix is so simple. All you do is mix half a cup of salt and a whole cup of flour and then slowly add one whole cup of water to the mix. You (or the kids) need to then knead the mix for 10 minutes - don't miss this stage out as … [Read more...]
Healthy Lunches for Work….
Now that I am back at work and on Slimming world, I need to sort out my lunches. The canteen at work is ridiculously priced and there is nothing else near to where I work so I have spent a fortune in there in the past. The optician told me that I didn't need glasses but I needed to take more regular breaks so I am going to do … [Read more...]

Birthday Party Traumas
I have just got back from taking little Miss Frugal to a birthday party, it was in a church hall and had an all singing, all dancing, bubble blowing, light flashing disco there. The kids loved it!When they played 'Is this the way to Amarillo' all 25 kids stopped running about like mad freaks, got into a line and started doing exactly the same dance. Very weird, like a scene out a body snatcher movie!!! Turns out that this is their new song for wake and shake on a morning at school! That's a relief. The party was fantastic though, it was fancy dress and the parents had hired a church hall and a … [Read more...]
Recipe for home made play dough….
The six weeks holiday are here again and for those people with kids, you'll understand my dilemma with how to keep them occupied for the next month or so.My first idea is home made play dough, which should keep them quiet for a couple of hours. I always find it keeps them quieter if we have a theme when we are playing with play dough, like a shop and all the things we make go in the shop. Then when they're bored with making things they can play shops with the things that they have made. Homemade Play Dough Recipe 2 cups water 1 cup salt food colouring 4 tsp. cream of tartar (you can … [Read more...]
