The worst part about going on holiday is the coming home isn't it? I hate the journey home, the unpacking, the washing, the catching up on e mails, the going back to work to a mountain of paperwork, the British weather.... I could go on but luckily for you I have a to do list the size of the M1 to get through in the next few days so I'm short on time! We got home last night from an amazing week in the Costa del Sol and I was back at work today (hence the reason I feel particularly sorry for myself I think). I'm off tomorrow though thank goodness and it's the last day off before the kids … [Read more...]
Packed Lunch Moneysaving….
I originally posted this a little while ago and although, I don't usually re-publish old posts I think this one is worth a second look so you can see that children's packed lunches don't have to cost the earth. It's easy to make a filling and healthy packed lunch that your children will enjoy for around half of what you would pay for a school dinner. I'd strongly recommend a good read through the comments as well as there are some fantastic ideas in there. Feel free to add your own too.... School Dinners seem to have got very expensive lately don't they? I think they're … [Read more...]
Family friendly frugal meals – Turkey and feta burgers….
This week my meal plan is super easy seeing as I'm away on holiday. I promised in my last meal plan to share a few recipes with you though so here's the first one - Turkey and feta burgers. I've start using turkey a lot more in my cooking as it's so economical and everyone really enjoys it. This is a recipe that I made up initially when some of the kids friends came round and I don't have much in. They sat and ate it in the garden and all came back for more so it can't be bad, can it? To make 8 small burgers you need: 500g turkey mince Feta cheese - I used about 75g but you can add … [Read more...]
Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Barbecue Chicken….
Even though it's the Summer Holidays and life is a little bit chaotic around here at the minute, you'll be pleased to know that I've been sticking to my meal planning (and my diet). I haven't been posting it because it's been a bit samey samey but this week I have a few interesting things planned so I thought I'd share it with you. Monday - Barbecue chicken using up 4 chicken breasts I got reduced to £1.35 at our local supermarket. I've picked up a few bargains recently so I have a nicely stocked freezer at the minute. See below for the recipe. Tuesday - We're having friends around … [Read more...]
Slimming World Quiche Muffins….
For the last few months (up until I went on my holidays), I've been following the Slimming World plan (on a budget) and I've lost just over a stone altogether. It would have been a stone and a half but the half went back on while I was on my holidays! In an effort to be frugal I wasn't going to a Slimming world group, I was going it alone using some books that a friend gave to me but it was hard work. There was no one to swap ideas and recipes with, no one to really motivate me and no major reason why I couldn't have a bit of a treat and start again the next day.... Or the next.... Or … [Read more...]
Get Organised – the very busy week edition….
We're having one of those weeks this week where we don't have a spare minute but I'm determined to keep on top of the housework and everything else that I need to do so I'm still going to do this week's Get Organised post - even though I cheated a little bit and got Master Frugal to write up the menu plan. Tuesday Parents night for Miss Frugal Football for Master Frugal General tidy up ready for tomorrow as I've got some friends coming. round for tea. I'm on week two of my new start to Slimming World and I want to have a good search on the internet for some inspiration. I … [Read more...]
