I'm not a fan of housework in any form but I do like to live in a tidy house so over the years I've so many blog posts and watched so many YouTube videos with people sharing their 'How to clean your house fast' tips that I should be an expert.I've tried cleaning schedules, daily routines, and all manner of systems but the only thing that works for me is a weekly focus on just getting the job done. After trying everything, I've come to the conclusion that there aren't any real shortcuts or life hacks that are going to help me if I want a genuinely clean house and I'm not disciplined enough … [Read more...]
25 Money Saving Life Hacks that will make your world a better place….
I might have mentioned that Miss Frugal has discovered Pinterest recently and has all sorts of random boards set up (including a Christmas wish list) but her favourite board by far is her beauty hacks board and she's regularly sharing new beauty life hacks with me.Over the last week or so she's shared quite a few with me that have actually been quite good and it's got me thinking about what money saving life hacks I can come up with. These are the first lot that I've come up with....When you're doing your weekly shop, look at the products on the lower and higher shelves as … [Read more...]
Budget DIY Lush Oatifix Facemask….
I might have mentioned in the past that Miss Frugal has a slight obsession with Lush which has resulted in rather a lot of her pocketmoney being spent in our local store in the past. The problem for her is that she's now trying to save up for our trip to New York next year so she's decided no more Lush until we get back - which should in fact be quite easy considering that she has at least a year's supply of bath bombs in her room somewhere!Because she isn't buying anything from Lush right now, she's been scouring Pinterest for her favourite products to see if she can make her own … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {28th October 2016}….
I'm so sorry if you've already seen this post or if you left a comment last week but the whole post got eaten by my blog over the weekend so I've had to redo it. Hope that's OK, Cass x x 1) This one is going to make us sound a bit greedy but we like our food here so don’t judge. Along with my usual batch cooked meals I often have ready made pies in the freezer for a quick and easy meal when I don’t have time (or energy) to cook. I used to serve two pies each (not for the kids obviously) because that’s what my Dad used to serve when we had pies when I was growing up and I just did it … [Read more...]
Super Easy Homemade Bath Bombs….
Miss Frugal has been asking me for ages now if she can have a go at making her own bath bombs and I always put her off because there are so many different methods of making them out there that call for ingredients I wouldn't normally have in the house. It finally got to the point where I couldn't put her off any longer so last weekend, I gathered the ingredients we needed and sat and watched her make her version of homemade bath bombs and actually, they came out OK. I don't think we're going to be up there with Lush but I do think that she might actually be able to pull of her plan to make … [Read more...]
What to buy a teenage girl for Christmas – as written by a teenage girl….
No-one can give better advice on what to buy a teenage girl for Christmas than a teenage girl herself so for this Christmas gift guide, I've drafted in Miss Frugal and her Picmonkey skills to help me to help you with what to buy the teenage girl in your life for Christmas. It didn't quite go according to plan though when I saw that the first gift guide she produced had a distinctly un-frugal feel to it. We decided to name that version the 'Splurge' version and include it anyway for those who are splashing out this Christmas and I asked her to do a second, more budget conscious version … [Read more...]
