I'm loving sharing my little DIY projects with you lately and I've been dying to share the essential oil mermaid bath bombs with you since Miss Frugal made them a few weeks ago. Miss Frugal went through a bit of a phase where she'd spend most of her pocket money in Lush on those expensive bath bombs that they sell for anywhere between £3 and £5! I have a rule where I try not to interfere with what the kids want to spend their own money on because I don't think they'll learn if they're simply doing what I tell them to do when it comes to money. Does that make sense? So even … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {9 August 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-) 1) I spilt nail varnish on my favourite quilt cover and since them, I've had my eye on … [Read more...]
Three things I won’t give up to save money….
Is there anything you wouldn't give up to save money? That's a pretty tongue in cheek title because there's actually nothing that I wouldn't give up if it was a choice between that or paying my bills and feeding my family. But if I look at my current situation, which is debt free and trying to save for our emergency fund whilst overpaying our mortgage each month, there are things in my life that I won't give up without a fight... Giving these three things up would obviously give us more money to put towards our goals each month and would build up the emergency fund and pay down … [Read more...]

July’s Frugal Fails – because I’m not always as frugal as you might think!….
This may come as a surprise to you (although more than likely not) but I'm not always a shining example of frugal-ness. ;-) I spend so much time on here sharing ways to save money and ideas on how to be frugal and rarely share much of the non-frugal side of my life so I thought I'd start a monthly post to share some of the slightly non-frugal things I've done! This is the second post in my frugal fails series- the first is here if you want to see last month's frugal fails. Frugal Fail #1 - A Meal Kit from M&S This one's not on me really as I completely planned … [Read more...]
Leftover Gammon and Cheesy Mash Fritters…
These leftover gammon and cheesy mash fritters are AMAZING - not only do they use up leftovers and transform them into a whole new meal, but they're also easy to make and taste delicious! I made some rainbow vegetable fritters a year or so ago and ever since then, I've been planning to see if I could make something similar with the leftover mash and gammon that we seem to have on a regular basis. Then Jen popped round to collect Maxi (who was playing basketball with Master Frugal for a good three hours solid) and mentioned that she's just made some cod and pea fritters … [Read more...]
