I used to love to read but when the kids came along, I never seemed to have the time to settle down and lose myself in a good book (ot to watch the soaps or even to have a long soak in a bubble bath) but lately I've been rediscovering my love of books. In my pre-frugal days, I often used to buy books from the Supermarket when we did our weekly shop and as soon as I'd read it, usually in a day or so, it would be relegated to my big box of books under the bed to be transferred into an even bigger box of books in the garage when under the bed got full up. I must have a fortune's worth of … [Read more...]
How to be be a Cheap Date….
Seeing as it's Valentines day, I wanted to share the different ways that we enjoy time together as a couple without breaking the bank. I've learned that we don't need to spend a fortune to enjoy our together time and our relationship is definitely better because of the effort that we put into it. Our Wedding Cake Topper Some websites say the best ways to spend time together on the cheap are to go for walks together or have a nice romantic picnic - neither of which sound romatic or fun to me! I even read somewhere that you should give each other foot massages but I can't think of … [Read more...]
My Halloween Family….
I have had a brilliant day today, one of those rare days where both kids were good all day and Mr Frugal was in a good mood too. They don't happen often in my world ;-) We got up this morning at about nine and went and had a quick game of bowling (1p each). After Mr Frugal wiped the floor with us all we went to Cineworld for the family film (£1 each) which was Ice Age 3. The kids loved the film and it made us love laugh too. After the film we came home and Mr Frugal did the pumpkin with the kids and we had a game of giant Ludo (reduced from £7.50 to £1 in Tescos) and a tournament on the … [Read more...]
Writing Game….
I have just played a writing game with Miss Frugal that she really enjoyed so I thought I would share it with you.All I need was write the first line of a story and then I let Miss Frugal do the next line. We took it in turns writing and ended up with a little story. We started spashing in puddles and ended up with having a brain freeze after having a slush puppy at the Wacky Warehouse!!!I'm not sure what to do for the rest of the day. Its not very nice weather and we have already been bowling (Hollywood Bowl 1p each during half term mornings) and to the pictures to see Fantastic Mr Fox. On … [Read more...]
Crispy cakes….
It's ok, I'm not about to post a recipe for crispy cakes as they're not exactly hard to make are they? I just wanted to show you the crispy cakes that Miss Frugal made herself for her birthday party last week. We used about some frosties and a huge block of Tescos own brand chocolate (not the value one but the next one up) and sprinkled some sprinkles on them before the chocolate set again. … [Read more...]
What not to do with the kids today….
This morning we decided to use the bif roll of brown parcel paper to draw around each of the kids and let them colour themselves in.... They were having such fun that I let them get on with it while I tidied up and did some jobs and half an hour later I went back to see the finished product. It seems they decided to work together and just colour in the one of Master Frugal... It looked really good until I noticed they had added in a drawing of a willy with wee coming out of it! They wanted to cut it out and stick it on the side of the fridge and can't understand why I wont ;-)I won't share … [Read more...]
