Oh my goodness, this year is just flying by, isn’t it?
I feel like this year has been a bit life-changing for me and, although I’m not going to get too deep today, I’ve spent a lot of time over the last few months reflecting on my life and trying to decide what I want and where I want to be.
I’ve also spent time with Mr Frugal discussing what we want, as individuals, as a couple and as a family and for the first time since we got married, we actually have a life plan. We actually have specific goals that we want to achieve and ideas on how we’re going to get there and that feels good.
Because I’m feeling so motivated, I thought I’d do a bit of a goals post to share what I want to achieve this month and how I plan to do it…
Financial Goals
- Overpay my mortgage by £400.
£310 overpayment is set up already as two separate Standing Orders but I want to round that up to £400 this month. I would try and pay more but the next thing on my list is going to take up all my extra money this month I suspect. - Pay the remaining balance of my trip to LA with Miss Frugal next month.
I have been paying small amounts since we booked it but the rest of it is due by the end of this month so I need to get that paid off. - Make a plan for Christmas now that the kids are back to school.
This is the first Christmas we’ll have without my Dad so it’s not going to be an easy one and I was thinking about going out for Dinner but I think that’s going to be pretty expensive so probably not. I do need to get an idea on what the kids are after for Christmas so I can start shopping though so that’s on the agenda for this month. - Meal Plan, Meal Plan, Meal Plan.
One thing I love about September is the return of routine to our lives and the way meal planning is so much easier when I know where everyone is and when they’ll be back so we’re getting back on the meal planning wagon to save as much money as we can to help me with this month’s other financial goals. - Mobile phone costs review.
I haven’t reviewed our mobile phone plans for a while now so I’m wondering if there’s a better deal to be had.
Family Goals
- Sunday Night Family Nights.
Over the Summer, we’ve set aside Sunday nights as family nights and I’ve really enjoyed that time so I’d really like to keep those going. - It’s Miss Frugal’s 16th Birthday this month.
That’s all I’m saying about that for now. 😉
House Goals
- Bedroom Makeover.
Posting about my bedroom makeover plans last month made me want to move up my plans a little and do it right away.
My budget won’t allow that right now but we can make a start so I plan to paint the walls with some white paint we have in the garage. It’s a start, right? - Kitchen Makeover.
Don’t get too excited as this isn’t happening for a while but we do want to get a few quotes for some ideas we’ve had so we know what sort of money we need to save.
Me Goals
- Taking Time.
I’m starting to get better at taking time for myself doing what I want to do. I have podcasts on my phone, books on my Kindle, some nice pretty notepads and some homemade bath bombs (they’re not exactly Lush but they’re nice). - Festival of Thrift.
I’m looking forward to my annual trip to the Festival of Thrift which I just love doing totally on my own. I always have plenty of offers from friends to come with me but actually, I just like going myself and wandering.
