This week's meal plan is going to be be a bit of a nightmare. I have to plan for a fussy eating 4 year old, a can't cook, won't cook other half and on top of that, I need to make sure that it's Slimming World friendly!I think until I have got the hang of being back on Slimming World I'm going to eat simple things that I'm familiar with rather than try anything elaborate or time consuming, more for the fact that I will be cooking separate meals for me initially. Once I've got my head round it I will introduce it more to the rest of the family and gradually try to adapt our family favourites to … [Read more...]

How to be an Organised Mum….
To the 6 people who have found this blog after searching for a 'diary in the shape of a tree' - Sorry, I have no clue why ended up here either! However, if you've found me by searching for the term 'organised mum' then this post may be the one for you. I've decided to dedicate a whole post to sharing as many tips on how to be an organised mum that I can (I aim to please after all ;-))I should be honest before I start though, I'm not one of those perfectly organised people who has everything under control all the time but Google seem to diagree judging by the numbers of visitors they … [Read more...]
All By Myself….
Actually I'm not completely on my own but it is just me and the kids tonight as Mr Frugal has very cleverly agreed to do a night shift at work tonight. Seriously, why would anyone work the night shift if they didn't have to.He says its because I am off tomorrow and he thought that we could spend the day together! He over looked the fact that when he got in at eight in the morning he would be too tired to do anything other than go to bed....Bless him, he didn't quite think it through did he?Tea tonight for the kids was Macaroni Cheese leftovers that I froze last time I made it. To be honest, it … [Read more...]
Stressful Afternoon….
First of all: AAAAAAAAGH (that was me screaming)What started out as a lovely afternoon rapidly went downhill today. As it's been snowing quite heavily again around here we decided to build another snowman. Not just your average snowman, but a giant snowman. Mr Frugal wanted to build a giant snowman so that ours was bigger than the snowman over the road (that's why the kids call him competitive dad lol). So we rolled three big snowballs, and stacked them up and Pattie 2 was born. Taller than the kids it was a wonder she managed to stay upright! We went inside to get warm and watch Beverly … [Read more...]
Nice and Spicy….
Following my spice trauma recently and my resolution to expand my culinary repotoire (now there's a big word) I have sorted out my herbs and spices. They are all labelled (using Tippex and a paintbrush) and lined up on the kitchen windowsill until I find somewhere better for them.I am determined to learn how to cook with these spices so I am going to cook a different recipe every week using them. So far I have used oregano by sprinkling it on the Homemade pizza for Master Frugal's tea yesterday. I added thyme, oregano and chilli to the Jambalaya last night and cinnamon in the choccy cinnamon … [Read more...]
Tonight’s Tea….
Some people (the real Domestic Goddess' of this world) can make up recipes as they go along, they are able to just throw some ingredients together and make a michelin starred meal. I have never been able to do this, I can only just put together a nice meal with a recipe to follow! That's why I am so pleased with what I made today. Miss Frugal declared that she doesn't like homemade pizza anymore and couldn't possible eat it for tea (does she not realise I have a meal plan to stick to) so we decided on salmon for her along with the leftover macaroni cheese. The only way I have ever cooked salmon … [Read more...]
