I've posted this week's meal plan over at Meal Planning Made Easy but for those of you who haven't ventured over there yet or don't meal plan, I wanted to share a recipe that I posted on there over the weekend. It's for a frittata made using whatever you have in the bottom of your fridge that needs using up and uses the slow cooker which means it's super easy to make.... As far as the recipe goes, there isn't actually one because it depends what you have in to use up but I can tell you the recipe for the version that I just made and you can adapt it as you want/need to.... 3 (ish) cold … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the tired mummy week….
There doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day at the minute. I have so much to do but all I actually want to do is snuggle up on the settee and do nothing, especially since I bought myself a lovely new throw for the settee last night. How pretty is this? I have jobs to do round the house, blog posts to write, emails to reply to, work to go to, school meetings to attend and I'm not sure if it's the change in weather but I have a sudden urge to decorate! On the plus side, I made the decision about what school to put as our first choice for Miss Frugal's secondary school - it's … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the good weather edition….
You may have noticed that there's an unfamiliar looking yellow ball in the sky giving off heat. That would be the Sun and it's so rarely seen in the UK that our meals this week are mostly cooked in the slow cooker so we can make the most of it while we have it. I can prepare everything on the morning before I go to work and then the dinner can be cooking all day in the slow cooker. That means we can go straight out after school to the park or the beach or wherever and know that the tea will be ready whenever we get in. Voila! Sunday Slow cooker brisket Monday Mini muffin pizzas - … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the start from scratch edition….
Was it Old Mother Hubbard who had no food in her house (I think she's the one who lived in a shoe with bare cupboards but I could be wrong)? If it was, then our house is like Old Mother Hubbard's house at the minute as we have no food in at all thanks to our week away last week and my general can't be bothered to go shopping attitude since we got home on Saturday. I just keep putting it off because I know that we have nothing in at all - usually we have at least some things in and I make our meal plan loosely based on that but this week, it's like starting from scratch. There's … [Read more...]

<div align="center"><a href="https://www.frugalfamily.co.uk" title="The Diary or a Frugal Family"><img src="https://www.frugalfamily.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/cookitblogitbadge.jpg" alt="The Diary or a Frugal Family" style="border:none;" /></a></div> Welcome to #CookItBlogIt which is my recipe linky. I made a new badge this week as a kind of a relaunch seeing as the lovely Emma from Crazy with Twins isn't going to have time to host this with me anymore. Emma's not well at the moment so if you have a minute, pop over to her blog and say hello. She's in … [Read more...]
Eating veggie for a week….
This is a bit of a back to front meal plan because I'm going to tell you what we ate last week instead of what we'll be eating this week..... Seeing as last week was National Vegetarian Week we decided to have a (mostly) veggie week which was great for me because it gave me a bit of an excuse to cook a few different things as I'm a bit stuck in a rut with our meals at the moment. I've got back into the habit of cooking the same old meals which is not only boring but it also makes me feel a bit bleugh about cooking so I'm more tempted to not stick to the week's plan. The veggie meals … [Read more...]
