I love this weeks Gallery theme - Playtime. I could have spent all day going through my photos trying to choose just a few of my favourites to share with you but I thought that I would ask Miss Frugal to choose the pictures for me today and I'm quite surprised by some of the ones that she picked. So from a seven year old's point of view, our definition of playtime is a bit of cooking, a picnic, a game of crazy golf, some theme park rides and a soak in the paddling pool - oh I wish I was that age again! … [Read more...]
School Uniform Moneysaving….
I'm starting to get ready for the kids going back to school in September, we need new book bags, new packed lunch boxes, new shoes and new uniforms!!! There's no money saving to be done in the new book bags and packed lunch boxes as the kids are extremely choosy about what they want here, apparently, Miss Frugal could not possibly go to school with a plain pink packed lunch box as it's absolutely essential that she has the new Hello Kitty one that she's seen and as for Master Frugal, I tried to suggest he used the same Scooby Doo book bag and was met with absolute outrage. I have been … [Read more...]
Happy Memories….
Can you believe how fast July flew by? I've just had a nice half an hour going through all my July posts to write the little round up below and I've realised why I love blogging (apart from all you lovely people) - it's because what I'm making month by month is a lovely collection of memories for my children when they're older. It's so nice looking back over the things we've done and the things they've said and knowing that I have a permanent record of everything to show them when they're older. So, here's July's round-up of happy family memories:Miss Frugal has been delighting us … [Read more...]
Baking on the Edge….
English Mum is hosting a Bake Off and all month I've been meaning to bake something spectacular that would wow everyone with my Domestic Goddess-like skills. I was going to make my yummy, moist carrot cake or some lovely rich chocolate brownies that would guarentee to having you bowing to my superior kitchen prowess. However, the reality is that I left it till the last minute and I've ended up baking a plain old chocolate sponge cake, I've tried to make it look a bit fancier by adding some whipped cream and sprinkles ;-)So, Ladies and Gentleman, I present you with a chocolate sponge … [Read more...]
This weeks Frugal Meal Plan….
I may have mentioned that I'm now off work for TWO WHOLE WEEKS (not that I'm excited or anything), we've got loads planned and Mr Frugal's neice is coming to stay for a week so I thought it would be an ideal time to get back in to my meal planning. If I don't have something planned for our meals I can see us spending a fortune (which we don't have) in the next few weeks. We've got loads of days out and a couple of days at Haggerston Castle planned so my plan might look a little bit all over the place but bear with me ;-) Saturday - Homemade PizzaSunday - Away at Drayton Manor so … [Read more...]
Mmmm Honey….
We had a car boot sale on Sunday to make some extra pennies for our fortnight off (2 sleeps people, 2 sleeps). It went pretty well actually, we made about £80 after paying to get in and taking into account the batch of designer clothes I bought for Miss Frugal. The day started off cloudy and overcast so I never took any sun tan lotion with us but by the end of the morning it was red hot so the poor kids had to stay in one spot in the shade for most of the morning. When we got home, we used the last of our water bombs to have a water fight to cool off. What is it about kids and … [Read more...]
