I was scrolling through some old photos the other day and came across pictures from one of our camping trips to Ullswater when the kids were younger. Looking at them made me realise just how many of my favourite family memories involve a tent, a camping stove and at least one day where it rained much more than we'd hoped. 😀Don't get me wrong, we've had some amazing holidays abroad over the years and I wouldn't swap those memories for anything. Some years, camping was our main family holiday because it fitted our budget better at the time and other years it gave us the chance to … [Read more...]

Homemade Febreze for under 20p a bottle….
I've been making my own homemade Febreze for years now and it still makes regular appearances in my weekly "Five Little Things That Saved Me Money This Week" posts. I realised recently though that the original post I wrote about it is well overdue an update, so I thought I'd dust it off, give it a refresh and share it again. Partly because I've treated myself to a new spray bottle and was looking for an excuse to show it off! The old one had seen better days and was looking more than a little grubby after years of being topped up and dragged from room to room. The new one is a lovely white … [Read more...]
Five little things that have saved us money this week {22nd May 2026}….
Every week I share five small things we’ve done to save a bit of money, make life easier or help us spend more intentionally. None of them are usually huge on their own, but that’s kind of the point. Those small choices add up over time and give us more room for the things that really matter — whether that’s days out, holidays, home projects, treats we’ll actually enjoy or just a bit more breathing space in the budget.Hey! You might want to grab a drink and a snack for this week's post as it's a looooong one! 🥤🍰1) Last week I bought a car which I am fully … [Read more...]
The little things I’ve done to feel ready to go back to work….
Going back to work after being off for over six months feels much bigger than I expected it to.When I first went off, I think I assumed life would somehow pause for a little while and then I’d just slot neatly back into my old routine as soon as I was feeling better. But life doesn’t really work like that, does it? Things happen while you’re away from your normal life and sometimes those things change you a little bit.The last six months have definitely shifted my priorities and made me realise how important happiness, balance and peace of mind are to me. It's not like … [Read more...]
Instant Pot Chicken and Rice….
This Instant Pot chicken and rice recipe is one of those meals that I still think about, which probably sounds a bit dramatic considering we’re talking about rice in a bowl, but honestly, it was that good.I don’t actually have my Instant Pot anymore, which is one of those practical decisions that made sense at the time but still makes me a bit sad. We simply didn’t have the space for it in our old house, so it had to go, but I really do miss it. There were a few things I made in it regularly, but this chicken and rice was the one meal that everyone loved and the one I could make without … [Read more...]
What’s growing in my garden {May 2026}….
One of the things I love most about our new house is the garden, which already feels like it has the potential to become such a lovely space for us. It’s probably my favourite part of the house, if I’m honest, and ever since we moved in I’ve been itching to get out there properly. I want to learn more about the plants that are already here, work out what needs a bit of love, and slowly start putting my own stamp on what is clearly an established garden, even if it has been a little bit neglected. The plan is to share a monthly “what’s growing in our garden” post so I can keep track of what … [Read more...]
