It's that time of year again when I start thinking about my Christmas Cupboard. If you don't know what I mean by my 'Christmas Cupboard' then let me tell you before we go any further. 🎄So, my Christmas Cupboard is literally a cupboard in our kitchen that I use at this time of year to start stashing Christmas goodies in. I buy something for Christmas every week when I do my weekly food shop from the end of October right up until we do our Christmas shop. I don't have a set list of things that I buy, it's more about what's on offer each week when we go … [Read more...]
No Trick or Treating sign {Free Printable for Halloween}….
It's that time of year when I share my No Trick or Treating sign... 🎃 There's a couple of extra versions this year too because last year, a couple of you asked for one that said that all the treats were gone. Also, you'll notice that the wording is out of date in the post, I didn't want to update it from when I first published this post eight years ago. It makes me smile to read it so I'm leaving it as it is other than adding in a couple of new versions. Personally, I love Halloween and look forward to the knocks on the door on Halloween night from … [Read more...]
7 Ways to Use Up Leftover Pumpkin….
Every Halloween, more than 20 million pumpkins are sold ready for Halloween and from what I understand, around 18,000 tonnes of edible pumpkin ends up in Landfill once the candles are blown out and the trick-or-treating is over. When the kids were growing up, we'd have four big pumpkins every year and have a competition to see who could carve the best one. We roasted the seeds a couple of times and I made pumpkin soup once or twice but more often than not, I would just get rid of the insides as I'm sure the majority of us do. It’s such a waste, especially when pumpkin is delicious, … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {25th October 2025}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Hey!1) I thought I'd start this week by sharing one of my staple meals for this time of year - corned beef hash. I made a big batch of this overnight on Monday night in the slow cooker and it did a small tea for me on Tuesday, two nightshift meals on Tuesday and Wednesday, a tupperware bowl filled with enough for a meal for Master Frugal (who, at 20, is … [Read more...]

Halloween is such an exciting time of year for kids, but let’s be honest — so many activities these days involve screens. Whether it’s games, videos, or apps, it can feel like everything fun needs technology - that’s why I wanted to put together something a little different this year: a set of free Halloween printables that are completely screen-free, simple, and fun for the whole family. These printables are perfect for rainy autumn afternoons, a bit of quiet time, or even as a low-cost activity before trick-or-treating. All you need is a printer, a pen or two, and some … [Read more...]
Supermarket Own-Brand Swaps to Save You £20 a Week….
With food prices the way they are right now, it seems like our weekly shop is costing more and more every week. Today's post is a reminder of something I'm sure you do but not so sure that you actually do to save money on your supermarket shop each week!Honestly, we love corned beef hash in our house but the cost of a tin in the main supermarkets seems to have rocketed to over £4 a can for the branded products. We have a little farm shop where we get a lesser known brand for £2 a can luckily so I didn't notice the price hike as much until recently when I thought I'd save myself a trip to … [Read more...]
