Generally I'm not a big fan of Mothers Day.Don't get me wrong though, I love the homemade cards and the cuddles that I get and I certainly don't object to the gifts but special days make me remember what I don't have. I don't have my Mam any more and although she's in my thoughts all year round, days like this focus my mind on her much more than usual. Facebook had me almost in tears this morning as almost every post is someone saying Happy Mothers Day to their Mum and I desperately wish I could do the same! But I can't so today, I'll be keeping very busy and enjoying all the love … [Read more...]
Share one thing you’ve done today to save money….
To me, being frugal is all about the little things. The little things, like giving up your weekly coffee from Starbucks or your occasional cheeky takeaway might not seem like much when you look at it as a one off. But if you look at it over a longer period then the savings start to mount up! A weekly treat like a coffee from Starbucks when you do your weekly shop adds up to over £150 over the course of a year. Even going without your daily newspaper adds up to savings of almost £175.00 and you don't even have to miss out as you can get all the news you need online! So, what I want you … [Read more...]
Parentfail #127
I love my job, but sometimes, I really wish that I didn't have to work and today is definitely one of those days.I left for work this morning at twenty past seven leaving Mr Frugal to handle the morning school routine alone. I checked my phone just before I went in to work and noticed that I'd missed a message from Miss Frugal telling me that her nose hurt. I knew she was at home with her Dad so I quickly sent her a text asking if she was better and then forgot all about it.At half past two, I came out of work and checked my phone - not only was there a couple of missed calls from … [Read more...]
Our night with Olly….
Last Tuesday night we went to see Olly Murs at the Metro Arena in Newcastle for the opening night of his UK tour.It was originally just supposed to be just me and Miss Frugal going but at the last minute we bought two extra tickets from one of our friends who wasn't able to go so we all went (although we weren't all sat together thankfully). I was sat right near the front with Miss Frugal and Master Frugal was sat with his Dad a bit further back.We had a great view where we were sat and Miss Frugal alternated between singing, dancing and screaming madly and standing quiet staring as … [Read more...]
Get Organised – Make some money by de-cluttering….
Before Christmas, I shared my top three ways to save your pennies but now, with Spring fast approaching, it's time for our annual de-clutter which hopefully means we can make some extra money from our clutter ;-)1. eBay, eBay, eBay I can't stress enough how much money you could potentially make by using eBay to sell your unwanted things. I've written about how to sell on eBay in more detail here but it offers a quick way to make money which is perfect when you need money fast. The vast majority of people pay by Paypal who can now transfer payments to your bank account using the Faster … [Read more...]
