This last week has been amazing - one of the most fun weeks we've had in a long time.We started last Thursday night with a last minute trip to the Circus thanks to a much reduced opening night price. There's no way we would have gone usually as it would have cost £40 on a normal night even with the half price vouchers they were giving out in town! None of us have ever been to a circus before and it was completely different to what we were expecting. The juggler dropped his balls (oops)almost as much as he caught them, the tightrope walker looked completely terrified and the Miss Frugal … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the busy Easter Holidays edition….
The last month or so has been slightly chaotic (as I may have said ;-)) so my meal plans have been very 'flexible' meaning, virtually non existent which has led to more money being spent on our food budget. Things have calmed now now thank goodness so I'm back on it.Sunday - Slow cooker minced beef and onions with Yorkshire puddings.Monday - Chicken curry - not sure yet whether to be adventurous and go for Thai green or just normal.Tuesday - We'll be out tonight so no tea to cook for tonight.Wednesday - Tuna pasta bake.Thursday - Slow cooker chilli.Friday - … [Read more...]
Would you fake an insurance claim….
It's OK, I don't really expect anyone to come right out and admit that they would make a fake insurance claim but I just wanted to put the question out there. My reason for asking is that, as you might know, two weeks ago I was hit by a truck when I was driving home from work. I walked away with no injuries thankfully although my car is looking like it's a write off due to the amount of damage done and obviously I'm going to claim on my car insurance policy for that. I'm also going to try and claim my train costs as we were going away that weekend so we had to get the train as the car was … [Read more...]
January – March: My giant to do list. Updated….
Seeing as I have plans of doing absolutely nothing today and tomorrow, I'm going to share with you the final update of my January to March giant to do list. I didn't manage to do everything I wanted in the first few months of the year but I have had a lot of unplanned 'stuff' going on so I think I've done well to do what I have done *pats self on back*.I do love having a list and I'm definitely going to do another one for April - June but I might do it a little differently this time. I'll share it with you next week ;-)Get curtains for my living room. I have lovely blinds … [Read more...]
Dear Baby Boy….
Dear Master Frugal,The last eight years has flown by and I know that I can't really call you my baby boy anymore because you're eight today and as you keep telling me, eight is very grown up.You've changed so much lately - transforming from a shy, quiet little worrier to a confident, outgoing young man and Mammy and Daddy are so proud of you. It's lovely to see you so confident now - the day you came home from school when you were in Year one and told me how you felt stupid because you weren't as clever as the other kids in your class almost broke my heart and I'll never, ever forget … [Read more...]
Our week in pictures – an interesting one at last….
You may (or may not) remember the last time I posted my weekly photo round-up a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I was very conscious that a lot of the things that we were doing together were indoors and at home. I've really tried to make more of an effort in the last two weeks to get out and about a bit more - despite the very cold March weather we're seeing at the moment! Top row:We were downstairs in Primark when we found a big pile of life size One Direction cardboard cutouts tucked out of the way - we couldn't resist standing them up and having a pose with them. Master … [Read more...]
