Christmas in New York had been on my wish list for as long as I can remember. The year before last, I finally went with Miss Frugal and honestly… it was one of the best trips we’ve ever had. But as magical as it sometimes looked in the photos, the reality was definitely a bit different a lot of the time, so I thought I’d share the reality behind some of the pictures I posted at the time. 😊From the moment I booked the trip, everyone I told was instantly jealous and full of “Oh my gosh, New York at Christmas is magical!” And I believed every word. I researched, I planned, I watched … [Read more...]
Super smooth lips – the frugal way….
Today is all about how this amazing homemade lip scrub can give you super smooth lips without the usual price tag! We’ve all heard about the benefits of exfoliating our body and face, haven’t we? But our lips are one of those areas we tend to forget about completely. A gentle lip scrub can make such a difference though. It removes the dead, dry skin sitting on the surface and leaves your lips feeling soft and smooth again. And as if that wasn’t enough, smooth lips make your lipsticks, liners and glosses last so much longer because they adhere to a soft surface rather than catching on dry … [Read more...]
Homemade Gingerbread Wreath….
Gingerbread just is Christmas to me. The smell of it baking takes me straight back to cosy December afternoons with the kids, decorating biscuits at the kitchen table and trying not to eat more icing than we used. There’s just something about gingerbread that feels like the official start of the festive season – warm, spicy, comforting and so ridiculously moreish. 😊Last year, Master Frugal made the most amazing homemade gingerbread wreath at school and honestly, it stopped me in my tracks when he brought it home. It looked gorgeous. When I shared a photo of it on Instagram, my … [Read more...]
Candy Cane Spoons….

They melt into hot chocolate beautifully, add a lovely minty sweetness and look so festive on a Christmas Eve drinks tray. They’re surprisingly easy to make too, which is probably why they’ve become one of my favourite little homemade treats to whip up at this time of year. 😊I was so pleased with the way my candy cane spoons came out. It’s not often that something I picture in my head turns out exactly the way I hoped, but these cute little … [Read more...]
Super Cute Unicorn Bath Salts DIY….
If you’re a unicorn fan then you’re going to love this cute little unicorn-coloured bath salts DIY. And even if unicorns aren’t your thing, stick around because you can use absolutely any colours you like to make these. 😊I didn’t wake up planning to make unicorn bath salts at all. I was actually meant to be tidying out my baking cupboard when I found the gel food colourings I used for my no-bake unicorn fudge a while ago. And because I’ll do anything to avoid tidying a cupboard, I decided to see what else I could make with them.Bath salts were pretty much the only … [Read more...]
This month’s pre-loved bargains {November 2025}….
You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it's from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and so I love to do a monthly post dedicated to sharing some of my bargains with you!I love the first two bargains that I'm sharing with you today - they both came from Iceland when we visited last month! We were having a wander around Reyjavik, looking for a hot dog stand if I'm honest, when we spotted a couple of charity shops next door to each other. The first one we went in just felt a bit posh and nothing had prices on it and I always … [Read more...]
