I don’t know what Miss Frugal does to her hair when she washes it but everytime she gets out of the bath, her hair is a mass of knots and tangles.
To make it easier to comb through before scalp plaiting it for bed (she loves curly hair) we usually spray on a little bit of our homemade hair detangler which really does work wonders.
We have a spray bottle that we usually use to make our homemade hair detangler in but last week we made up a smaller bottle ready to take on holiday with us. As I was making it, it occurred to me that I’d never written about how we made it before so I took a few pictures and here we are. 😉
To make homemade hair detangler
Homemade hair detangler genuinely could not be easier to make as it only uses two ingredients (conditioner and warm water) and the quantities can easily be scaled up or down depending on the size of your spray bottle.
The quantities I like to use are 1/4 air conditioner and 3/4 warm water and I always make sure that there’s space in the spray bottle to give it a good old shake when the ingredients are in there.
After that, it’s ready to go!
Told you it was easy didn’t I?
Just spritz a little of your homemade hair detangler on your tangled hair and comb through gently to get rid of any tangles – it even as the added bonus of making your hair look shinier than normal although you need to make sure that you don’t spray too much on as that can have the opposite effect.
Don’t forget to shake it each time you use it to make sure that everything is all combined before you spray it on.
Some people add essential oils to the mix as well but I like to keep it as simple as possible and the essential oils don’t add anything to the mix other than fragrance it. If you do add some essential oils then just a drop or two will go a long way.

Hey, I'm a long time fan and reader of your blog, first time commenter. Just wanted to say this post really hit home with the stuff I've been looking into. Thanks man
Hey man! Great post but I really wanted to just drop a comment on your blog. Your blog has a super cool design. Is this wordpress by chance?
I like the style of your great post
Is this a blog series? If not, it should be. I would love to read the next installment on this subject.
Congratulations, you literally wrote probably one of the best posts I've seen in this space in forever. If your blog isn't already rocking it, it definitely will if you keep making sweet posts like these.

That is really a great product.
Homemade hair detanglers are not easy. Thanks to writer. http://drkalia.com/
Nice Idea.I never knew this easy mixture can be used as hair detangler . 🙂
I'm always looking for new ways to help make combing the girls hair easier and less stressful, will have to try this
This is a great idea, especially for my daughter who has SUCH tangled hair all the time!
What a great idea – bet it saves you a fortune!
Brilliant!Syd's is always a nightmare – I have no idea what he does to it in his sleep!
Wow, this is a fab little piece of knowledge. I wonder if you can add a little oil as well??
I used to do this a lot when I was younger. Add a couple of drops of tea tree and it will even keep the nits away!
Gosh I didn't realise I was that simple! I have boys with short hair but could do with it for my own 🙂 x
Wow what a great little product tip! My hair is really fine and never gets tangled but I will let my friend's into this pearl of wisdom! x
Ingenious! My daughter hates me brushing her hair which is less of a problem as she gets older and does it more and more herself, but I am sure this will prove useful at some point! 😀
Great advice, but I have a feeling that my daughter (who could not care less about her hair) won't take it, even if I make it for her!
Wow -that is so easy. I didn't expect that given how much these things cost in the pharmacy!
What a great idea and so simple to make. I'll give this a try with my girl's long hair.
Lottie is only a baby and Aaron's hair is short but I sure could use doing this for myself. Grea ttip x
