I'm back today with the last of my #BetterWithLeerdammer sandwich ideas and I've gone all traditional with a cheese and pickle sandwich made with a bloomer loaf. All I did was slice up a bloomer loaf (on an angle so the slices were bigger), butter it, add a few slices of cheese and a big dollop of pickle. I added a salad and some sweet pepper relish to serve but they're just window dressing really. The main event is the sandwich and just plain old cheese and pickle is delicious. This is probably my favourite sandwich of the week although Mr Frugal is a fan of the tuna … [Read more...]
Yummy chicken and cheese wrap with a sweet Summer salad….
This week's #BetterWithLeerdammer campaign is definitely making for some interesting lunches and today was no different as we had chicken and cheese wraps which I controversially served with a sweet Summer salad. The flavour combinations are not something I would have thought of but I really enjoyed it, as did everyone else. It also encouraged Master Frugal who is a fussy eater at the best of times to try cold chicken - something he's never done before which may not seem like much to you but to me, it was HUGE! The sweet Summer salad was made up of lettuce, mango, strawberries, avocado … [Read more...]
Gorgeous cheese and pesto toasted baguette….
I wan't sure about the recipe I had in mind to share with you for today's #BetterWithLeerdammer sandwich idea but basically, I just served it to Mr Frugal for his tea and he loved it which is high praise from someone who's quite fussy with his food normally! Today's cheese and pesto toasted baguette is the simplest sandwich ever but it tastes delicious! All I did was cut a baguette in half and spread a layer of pesto on the bread before adding two slices of Leerdammer Light. I popped it under the grill until the cheese had melted and then spooned a little more pesto on the top before … [Read more...]
Amazing Cheese and Tuna Crunch Sandwiches….
I'm back today with another #BetterWithLeerdammer sandwich recipe for you all to try for lunch and today's is a delicious cheesey tuna crunch sandwich. We've just had this for our lunch and I can't believe how much we all enjoyed it. It just shows you that a simple tuna sandwich can be so much more with just a few quick additions. If you missed yesterdays post then you probably won't know what I'm going on about when I say that my recipe is #BetterWithLeerdammer but basically, I've been challenged by Leerdammer team to create a different sandwich for every day this week as part of their … [Read more...]
Mexican style cheese wrap with homemade salsa….
A couple of years ago I was trying to recreate a continental style breakfast like they do in hotels (can't for the life of me remember why though) and I came across a cheese in our local supermarket that looked a lot like the cheese you get served with so I picked up a packet. The cheese was Leerdammer and we enjoyed it that much that it's a regular in my shopping trolley now. It's brilliant to have in as it's so versatile - it's gorgeous on burgers, in a sandwich, melted in a toastie and even melted on top of chips on occasions. I'm not great at describing how things taste but if you … [Read more...]
Super Easy Homemade Iced Tea!
Personally, I can't stand iced tea and if you ask me, tea should only ever be served in a mug with milk and 1 sugar in it! There's no accounting for taste though as Miss Frugal has developed a bit of a taste for it and she loves making her own - she says it's delicious and so refreshing, especially in this weather! She's made a batch this morning which she assures me is delicious so I thought I'd see if there was anyone else out there who was an iced tea fan. It's really easy to make if you've never tried it. You basically add three tea bags into a largish jug (the better the quality of … [Read more...]
