Have you ever wondered how to cook a whole chicken in the slow cooker? To be honest, I probably don't need a whole post to tell you how to cook a whole chicken in the slow cooker, I could probably fit everything you need to know in a tweet. ;-) But seeing as we've just polished off our Sunday dinner made up of slow cooker chicken, Yorkshire puds and veg I thought I'd tell you how I cooked our chicken today. Before I do though, I will say that this isn't my favourite way to cook chicken because it literally cooks it so melt in your mouth soft that it tends to fall apart when you … [Read more...]
The perfect BBQ for those people who don’t like to BBQ….
Until recently, we've not really been BBQ people. That's kind of a lie as we LOVE a good old BBQ - at someone else's house where we don't have to worry about what direction the wind is going to blow the smoke or whether we're going to poison any visitors (or indeed ourselves) with half cooked meat. Because of this, we've never really had a good BBQ and have usually just relied on the cheap disposable ones because they're cheaper when you consider how few BBQs we have and also, they don't need cleaning afterwards. But this year, our garden is looking nicer than it has for a long time … [Read more...]
Unicorn cupcakes using a cheap kit from Amazon – success or fail?
Today I'm going to share the cheats way to making a batch of super cute unicorn cupcakes! Unicorns are definitely the 'in' thing right now aren't they? I jumped on the bandwagon and made my unicorn fudge, some unicorn bath salts and even some colourful unicorn cookie dough and in my wisdom when I was planning this month's posts, I decided to have a go at making unicorn cupcakes to share with you. My blog post planning process usually takes place once a month and I'll sit down and plan all of the posts I want to share the following month. These are usually random ideas that I haven't … [Read more...]
How much is too much when it comes to vet’s fees….
Our puppy Monty is an absolute menace and as much as I love him, there's no doubt that he's much harder work that our older dog, Buddy and so far, we've had more visits to the vets in his first 9 months or so with us than we've had in Buddy's 9 years! Just to give you some background, we have pet insurance where most things are covered but we do have to pay an excess on each claim. We haven't made a claim yet as all of our treatments have been below the cost of the excess so I wouldn't know how easy it is to actually make a claim. We also pay our vets £16 a month per dog which gives … [Read more...]
Free Cash Envelopes Template….
I'm a huge fan of cash envelopes. They're without a doubt the best way to focus your mind on what you're spending on what and how much money you have left in your budget. I'll hold my hands up and admit that I don't use them every week, I only use them when I feel like we need a bit of a reminder about our spending habits or when we're on a tight budget for whatever reason. This week for example, we're conscious that we have a holiday coming up soon and we're really trying to spend as little as possible and the best way to do that for us is to use our cash envelopes system. I wrote … [Read more...]
What Pinterest HQ really looks like….
So, you all probably know that I went to San Fransico recently to spend some time with the amazingly lovely people from Pinterest and you may know that I learned a lot from them on how to use Pinterest to your advantage if you're a blogger or business owner. I've shared a few posts (here and here) about what I learned when I was there already and there'll definitely be more to come but today, I wanted to share something with you that I know you want to know about even more than you want to know how to master Pinterest - I'm going to let you have a look at some of my photos from the brunch … [Read more...]
