Every week I share five small things we’ve done to save a bit of money, make life easier or help us spend more intentionally. None of them are usually huge on their own, but that’s kind of the point. Those small choices add up over time and give us more room for the things that really matter — whether that’s days out, holidays, home projects, treats we’ll actually enjoy or just a bit more breathing space in the budget.Hey! You might want to grab a drink and a snack for this week's post as it's a looooong one! 🥤🍰1) Last week I bought a car which I am fully … [Read more...]
A Pre-loved home office {on a budget}….
For the first time ever, I have an actual office at home.In our old house, my “office” was basically just a corner of the dining room and honestly, I didn’t mind it at all. I loved being downstairs in the middle of everything. I worked long hours back then and quite often ended up logging back in on an evening or over a weekend to help someone or deal with something urgent, so having my desk downstairs meant I still felt part of whatever was going on in the house while I worked. I could answer emails while tea was cooking, quickly check something while everyone else was watching TV … [Read more...]
Homemade Coconut Soap using melt and pour soap…
A while ago now, I shared my first attempt at making soap with you. My lovely Honey and Oatmeal Soap was so lovely that I decided to have a go at making a coconut soap because as the weather gets warmer, coconut is definitely one of my favourite scents.I always used to think that making your own soap would be a huge complicated process involving goggles, gloves and possibly some sort of minor science qualification. 😂 I’m pretty sure the traditional way of making soap involves lye, which is the bit that always put me off looking into it properly because I am absolutely not … [Read more...]

From the garden to the kitchen: Mint (and a lot of it)….
I don’t know how it happened, but I seem to have a mint plant that is growing quicker than the beanstalk in Jack and the Beanstalk. Every time I look at it there’s more of it, and I’m at the point where I feel like I have an unlimited supply so I'm starting to use it in more than just my daily mint and orange water which is actually the reason that I grow mint in the first place. My mint plant is absolutely thriving at the moment and the four or five leaves that I've been picking each day for my water aren't making a dent in it so I've been thinking about what else I can do with it to use … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {8th May 2026}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Hey!1) This first one is one of those where I feel obliged to say (again) that saving money isn't about being 'tight' or about not buying the things you want to buy - it's simply about saving money where you can so you have more money to spend on the things you want to spend money on. Unfortunately, the 'Diary of a family who spend intentionally as they like … [Read more...]
