We're having one of those weeks this week where we don't have a spare minute but I'm determined to keep on top of the housework and everything else that I need to do so I'm still going to do this week's Get Organised post - even though I cheated a little bit and got Master Frugal to write up the menu plan. Tuesday Parents night for Miss Frugal Football for Master Frugal General tidy up ready for tomorrow as I've got some friends coming. round for tea. I'm on week two of my new start to Slimming World and I want to have a good search on the internet for some inspiration. I … [Read more...]

How to have a frugal Christmas – Christmas Dinner….
The Frugal Family Christmas Day Menu Starter Figs with Parma Ham Main Course Turkey Breast and Slow Cooker Gammon served with Yorkshire Puddings, Roast Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Honey Roasted Parsnips, Carrots, Broccoli and Pigs in Blankets. Dessert Nutella Mousse What do you think of our Christmas Day menu then? We don't tend to go over the top with our Christmas dinner because to me, when it comes down to it, it's just a glorified Sunday dinner and I'd much rather spend time with my family on Christmas Day than be running in and out of the kitchen doing a big all out … [Read more...]
The one with the Brain Scan….
Yesterday was brain scan day for Miss Frugal. Apart from letting her know what to expect, we'd tried not to talk about the scan too much beforehand as we didn't want to make it into a big thing which we thought would have made her more nervous than she was. Our plan worked to a certain extent as she didn't seem overly concerned about it - until we picked her up from school early yesterday to go to the hospital that is. She was very quiet on the journey there and had a scared look on her face (you know the one, wide eyes, sad mouth) that no amount of cuddling and holding hands would get rid … [Read more...]
My Wedding Day (on a budget)….
We've just seen the most beautiful horse and carriage go past our window, all done up with white and pink flowers and looking as though it was on its way to collecting a blushing bride and take her to one of the most special days in her life. It made me think about my wedding day (not that we had a horse and carriage) and I decided to hunt out some of my wedding photos to show you.... Our wedding was a bit of a last minute thing, we'd been together for almost five years and were trying to decide what to do for our fifth anniversary - we were thinking of a night away or a nice meal … [Read more...]
School Uniform Moneysaving….
I'm starting to get ready for the kids going back to school in September, we need new book bags, new packed lunch boxes, new shoes and new uniforms!!! There's no money saving to be done in the new book bags and packed lunch boxes as the kids are extremely choosy about what they want here, apparently, Miss Frugal could not possibly go to school with a plain pink packed lunch box as it's absolutely essential that she has the new Hello Kitty one that she's seen and as for Master Frugal, I tried to suggest he used the same Scooby Doo book bag and was met with absolute outrage. I have been … [Read more...]
Frugal Food
One of the main areas that I saved money on when we first realised that we need to live a more frugal lifestyle was our food shopping and whenever anyone asks me what my top money saving tip is, I'll ALWAYS say to start meal planning if you don't already. Planning your meals is hands down the easiest way to start saving and once you get in the swing of things, it doesn't take long at all. Even if you already plan your weekly meals, there are still plenty of ways to save so there's hope for us all. ;-) I've just been through my entire blog (which turned out to be a bit of a mammoth … [Read more...]
