Today I'm a woman on a mission. Not a particularly important mission, it's not like I'm going to save the world or anything but I am going to tackle a problem that's been annoying me for months - I'm going to find a way to organise the million charges that we have. We have chargers for phones (four of them), an ipod touch, our Kindles, two tablets and two cameras and we're struggling to keep them neat and tidy at the moment so I've been trying to think of a way to organise them. My first idea worked really well for us for ages. I keep two of the USB plugs plugged in … [Read more...]

#SummerofFrugalFun – Water Play….
So, the day's finally arrived. Our school broke up today which means we now have six long weeks of fun ahead of us (with the odd week of work ;-)) and as you'll know if you've seen a few of my recent posts, we're planning to have as much fun as we can - while spending as little as possible! I'll be posting lots of our ideas on here and on Instagram and Twitter (#SummerofFrugalFun) to help you get through the Summer Holidays without breaking the bank. First up, we have water play which is what we've been up to every night this week to cool down after school. We bought some … [Read more...]
Where I live – Indoors….
I love where my house but I've been thinking for a while that it's in need of a style makeover due to the builders love of magnolia and my lack of decorating since we moved in. So, when I read a post by Michelle from The American Resident about some of the treasures in her home I was pretty sure that I wouldn't have much to write about from my home. But then I saw lots of other bloggers joining in and posting about their homes. My inner nosey person was in her element and had such a good time looking at the posts and seeing what other peoples houses were like and I really wanted to join … [Read more...]

A great way to earn to earn some extra money at this time of year is to have a de-clutter and go along to your local car boot sale to sell it all! We do this twice a year usually - once at the beginning of the good weather and once at the end of the Summer and seeing as we've just had our first car boot sale of the year, I thought I'd share a few of our car boot sale tips with you today. The boot sale we had this weekend was a huge success and we made over £160 which was brilliant as we were hoping to make enough to cover the costs of some parts that we needed to buy for our plumber who's … [Read more...]
Dear Baby Boy….
Dear Master Frugal, The last eight years has flown by and I know that I can't really call you my baby boy anymore because you're eight today and as you keep telling me, eight is very grown up. You've changed so much lately - transforming from a shy, quiet little worrier to a confident, outgoing young man and Mammy and Daddy are so proud of you. It's lovely to see you so confident now - the day you came home from school when you were in Year one and told me how you felt stupid because you weren't as clever as the other kids in your class almost broke my heart and I'll never, ever forget … [Read more...]
Just punch him, that’ll stop him….
As a parent, I want my children to grow up knowing that violence in any form is not a solution to anything. I try to teach them that if someone hurts them, it doesn't make it acceptable to hurt them back - they should be the better person and walk away. If that doesn't work, they should tell a grown up. I know that's much easier said than done when you're nine and seven and it doesn't always happen that way but it's the way I expect them to behave. So can you imagine how annoyed I was at the local soft play centre the other day when a little boy kept throwing things at Master Frugal. … [Read more...]
