It's no secret that I prefer easy, simple to prepare recipes when I'm cooking. Mainly because I seem to have very little time spare to spend in the kitchen but also because I'm a little bit lacking in the necessary kitchen skills needed to cope with complicated recipes (by complicated, I mean anything that involves more than two pans ;-)).This probably explains the love I have for my slow cooker - I get to throw everything in, give it a mix and then leave it for most of the day before serving a delicious home cooked meal.My recipe for chilli is a great example of how easy it it to … [Read more...]
Wednesday’s Wardrobe – What we’re wearing this week….
Welcome to this week's Wednesday's Wardrobe! In case you don't know, Wednesday’s Wardrobe is a weekly linky that I'll be co-hosting along with two fantastic bloggers, Emma and Sarah. Both kids came down with a bug last week which floored them from Thursday night through to Sunday so this week's Wednesday's Wardrobe should really be pyjama related. ;-)Instead, I'll tell you about a few of the other outfits from this week.... The New TopI love Miss Frugal's new top which we bought for just £5.99 in New Look - it's a stretchy knit and looks really good on (although I may be … [Read more...]
Decorating on a budget: Quick Bedroom Refresh….
At the start of this year, I challenged myself to get all of the little jobs done around the house that have needed doing for ages but never seem to get done and to decorate one room or do one 'big job' (to us it seems big anyway) every month. We don't have a huge budget so we're trying to do things as cheaply as possible and get as much for our money as possible. So far, we're not doing too badly - we did Master Frugal's bedroom in January, the Living Room in February (no major changes though) and a giant garage clear out. In March we had a mini makeover in our bedroom which is what I'm … [Read more...]

Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {17th April 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. My new Fridge Freezer arrived on Monday and although I love it, it's certainly a lot bigger than it looked when I bought it. We thought to measure the depth and width in the shop to make sure it fit where we wanted it but we didn't really consider the height of it until it was delivered. It's at least a foot taller than our old one which means I can't store anything on top of it like I used to so Monday night was spent in the kitchen re-organising! The problem I have is that I have too much 'stuff' in the kitchen and even the shelves that we … [Read more...]
Wednesday’s Wardrobe – Hotter Shoes review….
Welcome to Wednesday's Wardrobe! In case you don't know, Wednesday’s Wardrobe is a weekly linky that I'll be co-hosting along with two fantastic bloggers, Emma and Sarah. We've had a quiet week this week after our traumas of last week with the washing machine dying on us. It turned out that it couldn't be fixed so we had to go and buy a new one - from Currys of all places. I was convinced they would be more expensive than anywhere else but they have some great deals on at the moment so they were the best value for money. The service was excellent too - chose it on Saturday evening … [Read more...]
