We had wraps for tea tonight and in true frugal style we even made our own wraps.... They were easy to make, cost practically nothing and have just been declared as 'awesome' by the kids.Homemade wraps350g of plain flour1 teaspoon of salt30ml of olive oil130ml of warm waterI love recipes like this - so simple that Miss Frugal can do all of the measuring and mixing. She takes it so seriously and the measurements have to be exact. I'm more of a 'that'll do' kind of a cook which probably accounts for some of my more un-domestic goddess moments.Throw all the ingredients together in a mixing … [Read more...]
Make a Wish Book….
I hope the snow doesn't last much longer - I am running out of things to keep the kids entertained....I made a 'Wish Book' with Miss Frugal today (Master Frugal was quite happy on the Wii). We cut out about 12 circles out of coloured card and Miss Frugal wrote a different wish on each of them - all things that she wants to do or places that she wants to go to.She spent ages thinking about each wish and carefully wrote each one down. After we had done about 10 we punched a hole in each one and tied them together with some ribbon. Some of the things she wrote down were:I would like to go … [Read more...]
What not to do with the kids today….
This morning we decided to use the bif roll of brown parcel paper to draw around each of the kids and let them colour themselves in.... They were having such fun that I let them get on with it while I tidied up and did some jobs and half an hour later I went back to see the finished product. It seems they decided to work together and just colour in the one of Master Frugal... It looked really good until I noticed they had added in a drawing of a willy with wee coming out of it! They wanted to cut it out and stick it on the side of the fridge and can't understand why I wont ;-)I won't share … [Read more...]
Making a Dad Survival Kit….
I can't believe that I am back at work tomorrow.... I am gutted as I have loved spending time with the kids. I thought that they were back at school but they don't go back until Wednesday so I am trying to make a Dad survival kit as Mr Frugal is at home with them tomorrow and Tuesday and I don't want them sat in front of the TV all day.My first idea was baking and decorating fairy cakes as the kids love this but Mr Frugal is not so good with cooking so I have weighed out all of the ingredients and written out some super basic instructions so hopefully everything will go well.I spent the last … [Read more...]
Homemade Boomerang….
I sat and watched CBeebies with the kids for an hour or so this afternoon and we watched a show that looks like the modern day version of 'Why Don't You'. Can you remember watching that when you were little? I used to love it every school holidays - there were loads of ideas on things to make or do.Anyway, we saw someone making a homemade boomerang with some card and three lolly pop sticks. They made it look so easy that we decided to try it:You need three pieces of card about 8cm x 4.5cm, we cut ours from an empty cereal box and we decorated them with felt tip pens to make our boomerang look … [Read more...]
Homemade book update….
So much for tomorrow's activity of making books.... Little Miss frugal just caught sight of the instruction video and 'just had' to make her book tonight....She also didn't like my suggestion about the book being about what we had done in the summer holidays and much preferred to make hers about a princess who lived on the beach. Excuse the spellings, she is only six.... And the reason that she has a mood on in the last pictures is that she thinks that she drew 'The End' too big and didn't want me to take a photo of that bit. We had fun making it but Master Frugal is in bed and I don't think … [Read more...]
