1) I made Slimming World Quiche for tea for Mr Frugal and I the other night and it was delicious! The recipe is here if you want to have a go at making your own but it's pretty flexible as far as ingredients go - what you can see here is the last of the gammon from Sunday dinner, a pepper left over from fajitas, some tomatoes that have seen better days and some boiled potatoes I saved from tea.I make it without the pastry crust as that's better for Slimming World (it also means it's much easier to make) but you could make it with if you prefer.2) We had a lovely wander around our … [Read more...]
From boring to beautiful – how we transformed a bedside cabinet on a budget….
A little while ago, Miss Frugal announced that she wanted a more grown up bedroom as she felt that hers was too babyish (despite the fact we'd only decorated it last year. Apparently she now hated the turquoise and pink theme she'd picked out not that long ago and she wanted to go for all white. The first problem (for her, not me) is that I'm planning to do Master Frugal's room next month as a surprise when he goes away on is school residential and I don't want her to have another big room makeover before his is done.Plus the fact that she only just had it done means that her room was … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {13th May 2016}….
1) My best buy of the week is a book of vouchers that I've been hearing about for ages now in our local area. The book costs £24.99 and is basically filled with over 400 vouchers for local businesses (mainly foodie, days out and activities but with some health and beauty too) offering buy one get one free or 50% off. Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {6th May 2016}….
1) Remember a couple of week's ago, I saved money by spending some vouchers I had on something practical rather than the expensive pair of sunglasses that I had my eye on? I regretted my decision as soon as I pressed buy on the grown up purchases but the cost of the Ray Bans I was lusting after was way too high for me for something I wouldn't get that much use out of. But now, fast forward two weeks and look what I have in my hand....Now the man who sold me them in Cyprus assured me that they were original and promised me on his life that they weren't fake but I have a sneaking … [Read more...]
2 Ingredient homemade hair detangler….
I don't know what Miss Frugal does to her hair when she washes it but everytime she gets out of the bath, her hair is a mass of knots and tangles. To make it easier to comb through before scalp plaiting it for bed (she loves curly hair) we usually spray on a little bit of our homemade hair detangler which really does work wonders. We have a spray bottle that we usually use to make our homemade hair detangler in but last week we made up a smaller bottle ready to take on holiday with us. As I was making it, it occurred to me that I'd never written about how we made it before so I took a … [Read more...]
