Do you have unlimited data on your iPhone? If you don't then you really need to read this post as I've just been told about a cheeky new feature that's used more of my data in a couple of days than I usually use in a week! I only found out about it because I mentioned to someone at work that my phone seemed to be using much more data than normal since I updated it and they told me that Apple added a new feature called WiFi assist in the last update. Basically, WiFi assist means that if your WiFi strength isn't great then your phone will switch seamlessly from WiFi to using your data … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan {28 September 2015}
It's been a while since I posted our weekly meal plan but now that the kids have gone back to school and life has (kind of) settled down again after the Summer Holiday chaos, I thought I'd try and share our meal plan on here every now and again. I'm not going to go through our meals day by day but I did want to tell you about a few of the bargains that we'll be eating: The gammon that we had tonight was from a small joint that I bought in Asda for £2.97. I cooked it slowly in the slow cooker while I was at work today and it was ready to eat at tea time along with some new potatoes … [Read more...]
Days Out: Why it’s good to love where you live….
You might have noticed that over the last month or so I've started to share a post every Sunday about a day out that we've enjoyed as a family together recently. I was inspired a little bit by some lovely days out that we've had as a family since we got our annual family membership to the English Heritage but also I thought it would motivate me a little bit more to make sure that we continue to get our and about now that the Summer's over. Yesterday we went back to a local forest that we discovered last weekend - it's less than 15 minutes drive from where we live but we've never visited … [Read more...]
Five super simple things you can do right now that will make you feel happier….
At this time of year I need all the help I can get to stay positive and Smile It's hard not to be happy when you're smiling and the feeling is even nicer if you're smiling at someone else or thinking happy positive thoughts. Reach out to an old friend or someone you haven't spoken to in a while Sometimes life gets in the way of keeping in touch with friends and family and I always feel happier after a good catch up. Get a good night's sleep If I don't have a good nights sleep then I feel grumpy all day the following day so it follows that a good nights sleep will make for a much happier … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {25th September 2015}….
1. We've had a week without shopping this week as we've been using up the random bits of food and leftovers that we have in already. It's made for some very random meals but we've got a half empty freezer now so I've made space for some more reduced supermarket bargains. 2. We've all been under the weather this week with snotty noses and sore throats so rather than buying half the chemist as I would have done in the past, I decided to go for the old fashioned hot water in a bowl approach to clear our blocked noses. I added a couple of drops of Olbas oil to some slightly cooled just … [Read more...]
8 reasons why you don’t need to turn your heating on in September….
The temperatures taken a bit of a nosedive here in the last week or so and there's been a few times when my finger's been hovering over the thermostat while I've considered whether to turn the heating on. I've managed to resist the temptation so far though but I thought I'd remind myself (and you) why we don't need to switch our central heating on in September.... It's not really that cold yet! I'm not the sort of person who will sit in the cold with a hot water bottle and layers of socks, jumpers and blankets on to keep myself warm so f it's cold, I'll put the heating on. But it's not … [Read more...]
