I want to have a little rant today about school uniform rules!I should start by saying that I'm all for school uniform and completely understand the need for guidelines and rules. What seriously annoys me is the decision that what was suitable to be worn as part of the school uniform in July is no longer suitable for the following September. Replacing perfectly good clothes is not only a waste of money but it's just wasteful in general. During the Summer term, our school announced some uniform changes that would take effect from this September. The new changes meant that the … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {7 September 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.I have TOTALLY struggled with this post today for two reasons - the first reason is that I usually write this post on a Thursday night but we spent most of last night at the hospital with a bit of a scare over Master Frugal. He had a fall at school and not long after started being sick and by the time we picked him up, he was looking grey and was pretty groggy and confused. Long … [Read more...]
Why Self Esteem is more important than Body Confidence….
I don't know about you but I feel like the whole body confidence movement has exploded this Summer (in a good way obviously) and it's been so lovely to see women of all shapes and sizes learning to accept, if not love, their own bodies. There are some wonderful bloggers championing the cause (Molly Forbes on Instagram is particularly inspiring) and it feels like more and more women are becoming more comfortable with their bodies, wobbly bits and all, which can only ever be a wonderful thing, can't it?I'm not quite there yet myself but I'm trying my hardest and I definitely feel more … [Read more...]
September 2018 Goals….
Oh my goodness, this year is just flying by, isn't it?I feel like this year has been a bit life-changing for me and, although I'm not going to get too deep today, I've spent a lot of time over the last few months reflecting on my life and trying to decide what I want and where I want to be.I've also spent time with Mr Frugal discussing what we want, as individuals, as a couple and as a family and for the first time since we got married, we actually have a life plan. We actually have specific goals that we want to achieve and ideas on how we're going to get there and that feels … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {31 August 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, I do want to say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons - we're frugal so we can afford to do nice things together. We were on holiday for half the week this week so my … [Read more...]
How to make a wonderful school memories book for your children….
I read a conversation somewhere on line yesterday where a Mum was asking how people store their children's artwork and other special things that they make and it reminded me of this post so I thought I'd give it a quick dust off and rehare it with you because I used to hoard their creations so much that I had boxes full of it.For years we had an ever-changing art gallery on the kitchen walls which was so popular when I posted about it that we were featured in a newspaper sharing our little gallery with the world. We'd stick up the new art and put what we took down in our art box but … [Read more...]
