1) We're have a lovely first week of the Summer holidays and have managed to get by without spending much money at all. I've been working until 3.30 each day but the kids have done various things like trampolining and swimming with friends while I've been out and we've had some chill out time together when I've been home as we were all exhausted. We've had so much going on and I just need a break really so walks to the beach on a night have been just what we've needed!2) I've had a look at the kids school uniforms and short of two Summer Holiday growth spurts I think we'll be OK to … [Read more...]

12 Frugal Habits to Live By….
I've been reading a bit about Dave Ramsay's 7 baby steps to financial peace and it makes a lot of sense to me.Step One is to set up an emergency fund of £1000 which we've been trying to do for a good year now but every time we get close, something happens that means we need to dip into our fund. We've had car breakdowns and repairs, oven fires, broken beds and all sorts of other things that have wiped out what we've saved so far. We're back down to zero now but hopefully we can get there one of these days and then we can move on to Step Two (which we're working on already at the same … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {5th May 2017}….
1) I had to cut the crusts off some bread on Sunday morning to make our favourite family treat breakfast - Nutella French Toast Roll Ups. Rather than waste the crusts, I've popped them in the freezer as I'll be making some homemade fishcakes next week (if I stick to the meal plan I have in mind) and the crusts will make great breadcrumbs to coat them in.2) I invested in some new microfiber cloths from B and Q which were a bargainous 3 for £1 (as they are in the pound shops I think). Microfiber cloths are honestly amazing and they're an essential part of my cleaning kit! They're so … [Read more...]
How much SHOULD you be spending on your weekly shopping?
One thing I often get asked is how much people should be spending on their weekly shopping and I always struggle to answer it because what's right for one family isn't necessarily right for another. I thought I'd have a go at explaining how I think you should decide on your shopping budget, with a little help from my friends. ;-)The right amount to spend on your weekly shopping each week for your family depends on a number of different things, although these are the main three deciding factors in my mind:(a) How much money you have available to spend after paying for … [Read more...]
How to clean your house FAST….
I'm not a fan of housework in any form but I do like to live in a tidy house so over the years I've so many blog posts and watched so many YouTube videos with people sharing their 'How to clean your house fast' tips that I should be an expert.I've tried cleaning schedules, daily routines, and all manner of systems but the only thing that works for me is a weekly focus on just getting the job done. After trying everything, I've come to the conclusion that there aren't any real shortcuts or life hacks that are going to help me if I want a genuinely clean house and I'm not disciplined enough … [Read more...]
