Am I correct in thinking that it's OK to talk about Christmas now that the Coca Cola advert has been on TV ;-) I hope so, because with just 38 days to go, I've got lots to say, I'll try and keep most of my Christmas mutterings confined to the OneStopChristmasBlog but very often every now and again I'm not going to be able to help myself! Like today for example, we're using today to have a bit of a pre-Christmas clear out as we do every year around this time and I'm going to try and make some money with our things to go towards our Christmas fund. I find it much easier to clear our the … [Read more...]

Five ways to make going back to school stress free (and save money at the same time)….
Going back to school doesn't have to be stressful and it doesn't have to cost you a fortune. My two are aged ten and eight so it could be the fact that we've done 'back to school' so many times that makes me so laid back about it but really, it's not worth worrying about every little detail. Honestly ;-) Don't worry! Easier said than done I know but don't worry about every little thing. It doesn't really matter if you have enough shirts or enough pairs of trousers. Trust me, the shops won't suddenly stop selling uniform as soon as they go back to school so you've got plenty of time to … [Read more...]

Five ways to keep your romance alive – without spending a fortune….
We've been married now for almost 12 years and together for almost 17 years! Our relationship has changed a lot over the years and I'd be lying if I said it had all been plain sailing but I think we're happier now than we've ever been. We've learned that we need to remember that we're not just parents, we're also husband and wife and if we want to stay happily married we need to spend quality time together as a couple and not just as a family. If you Google 'cheap dates' or something like that, you'll get lots of suggestions telling you to go for a walk on the beach, give each other a … [Read more...]
This month’s pre-loved finds {July 2026}….
Welcome to my monthly pre-loved bargain post, which is always one of my favourite posts to write. 😀 There's something so satisfying about finding something you genuinely need or love second-hand, especially when it costs a fraction of what it would have done new. This month I thought I'd share just two of my favourite pre-loved finds with you as there's quite a lot to tell you about them both... You might have seen me mention this in last week's five little things post but this month we bought one of my favourite things for the house so far. We found a vintage fireplace at our … [Read more...]
Homemade Febreze for under 20p a bottle….
I've been making my own homemade Febreze for years now and it still makes regular appearances in my weekly "Five Little Things That Saved Me Money This Week" posts. I realised recently though that the original post I wrote about it is well overdue an update, so I thought I'd dust it off, give it a refresh and share it again. Partly because I've treated myself to a new spray bottle and was looking for an excuse to show it off! The old one had seen better days and was looking more than a little grubby after years of being topped up and dragged from room to room. The new one is a lovely white … [Read more...]
