Wow, I've not taken part in The Gallery for the last couple of weeks because of my various Blogger to Wordpress traumas but I was determined to join in today. I've just popped over to Sticky Fingers to see what Tara has given us as a theme and there's 85 entries already - I don't think I'll make it round them all tonight will I? This weeks theme is Men.... I considered putting a photo of Mr Frugal on her but I try not to use his picture on here so I decided to share his favourite place in the world with you instead as it shows a lot about him - His Computer Corner! You'll … [Read more...]
Bogies and Marbles….
I've just had a strange conversation with Master Frugal who has just informed me that it's actually OK to eat white bogies as long as you never eat the green ones. He says his teachers says that the green ones are poison!!!! Miss Frugal has also decided to share someof her pearls of wisdom with me, apparently 'If it's yellow, let it mellow but if it's brown, flush it down.' When I looked a bit puzzled she explained that it will save money and the planet if you only flush the chain when you have a poo. I've also just been treated to a lovely home made tea from Miss Frugal, I wondered … [Read more...]
Bursting Blueberries….
We managed to buy some bargain blueberries from the shop tonight - a big punnet reduced to 65p. I was planning to use them to make something exotic and different but in the end we just made plain old boring muffins! All you need to recreate my delicious little muffins is: 75g butter (softened) 75g sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 egg, beaten 200g plain flour 125ml milk 100g blueberries Gradually add the sugar and the egg to the butter Mix 1 tablespoon flour with the blueberries and put to one side. Sift the remaining flour together with the baking powder. Fold the flour and … [Read more...]
Parmo and Creamed Cabbage….
Who knows what a Parmo is? You probably won't unless you've spent some time in the North East as it's a local 'delicacy' round here, I'll tell you what it is if you promise to keep an open mind as it tastes way better than it sounds. It's a chicken escalope coated in breadcrumbs, topped with bechemal sauce and then cheese. They're usually eaten with chips, creamed cabbage and garlic sauce and you can get them with all sorts of toppings on like mushrooms, onions, bolognaise or even doner meat. You want one now don't you, admit it! All you need to do is put a chicken breast into … [Read more...]
Happy Camping….
Does anyone go camping? We've never been before but are seriously considering trying it this year in the Summer holidays. I was hoping we might be able to have a more exotoc holiday, or at least one that involves an aeroplane but unless we win the lotter it doesn't look like that's going to happen so we thought camping in the UK might be a good alternative. To practice, we've bought a little 2 man tent from B&Q (complete bargain at £11) and set it up in the garden. It was a loads easier than I thought to set up although to be fair we do appear to have a few spare ropes and pegs … [Read more...]
Who wears the trousers in your house….
When I was younger I had a really simple view of what life was going to be like when I grew up, I was going to meet the man of my dreams, have a huge white wedding, produce several very well behaved children and give up work while my well paid husband supported me. However, as with lots of childhood dreams, it didn't quite turn out that way, although I was lucky enough to find the almost perfect man! Mr Frugal works really hard, often starting at 4am but he's far from being well paid bless him. I have a pretty well paid job and earn almost double what he does, I work full time hours over … [Read more...]
