I’m going to be honest here and say that when I first heard about the Pokemon Go craze sweeping the nation, I did roll my eyes and I may possibly have muttered something to myself about it being ridiculous idea for a game. I may have even laughed at the kids and Mr Frugal as they got excited over various little creatures on their phone.
But my opinion soon changed when I realised that Master Frugal and Miss Frugal were suddenly getting along much better and they were actually having fun together catching Pokemon. They would sit together and compare Pokemon and even better, they’d go for long walks together to hatch their eggs.
Not only did it give them something in common, it also made them both want to get out more as a family and after hearing that there were rare Pokemon at historical sites, they actually asked if we could visit some of our local English Heritage sites.
When we’ve been out Pokemon hunting, I’ve always made sure that the Summer bag is in the car and that we’ve had a quick hunt for the little creatures before getting out the ball or the frisbee and having some non-electronic fun!
We even visited a place near us that is a hotspot for Pokemon hunters according to the local paper and it was lovely to see so many families there having fun together. Yes, it may be for the purposes of catching a few Pokemon but look at how many people are outside having fun (there were at least a hundred people here on the day we went):
So if you haven’t tried it yet, I really recommend having a go with the kids because this Summer has been lovely and it might sound cheesey but a lot of it is down to Pokemon Go.
If you are having a go yourself, why not enter the fab competition that NCC Home Learning are currently running here. All you have to do to enter is head over to their website, fill out the contact form and send them a picture of a Pokémon you’ve caught on Pokémon Go!
It couldn’t be simpler and the winner will get a free digital photography diploma course from their website 0 a prize which I really want for myself if I’m honest as I’m really loving my photography again since I got my Olympus Pen.
Happy hunting and good luck if you enter the competition. 😉
