This isn't one of those 'woe is me' posts but I want to share my reasons for why this Christmas is more important to me than any Christmas for as long as I can remember. To explain fully, we need to rewind a little bit to Christmas 2016 when I was off work sick following a hemorrhoidectomy operation that I'd had at the end of September. Prior to the operation, I'd been in a lot of pain with a thrombosed haemorrhoid since the end of June time and after the operation, the pain was unbelievable was quite a while so I was on quite strong painkillers for lengthy periods throughout … [Read more...]
How to get FREE stuff with your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant….
We all love something for nothing, don't we? Today I'm going to tell you how you can use your Amazon Alexa to get free things sent directly to your door!I mentioned this originally way back in September in one of my weekly five frugal things posts as I'd just been promised a sample of the new Baileys drink by Alexa. I was planning to tell you more about it when my freebie came but alas, it never arrived and I lost faith a little bit.But then I got a notification that there were free cans of Diet Coke (the Mango variety) available so I tried again and lo and behold, four little … [Read more...]
Unsubscribe and Save….
Do you ever find yourself missing the days when you paid for something and it was yours. You didn’t need to upgrade it, replace it every 2 years or download a slew of extras. You just had it. It seems as though, in the era of Netflix, Amazon Prime and Spotify we have become accustomed to an economy based on a sharing of resources rather than ownership. While subscription services always seem like a great deal on the face of it, they have a nasty habit of accumulating and eating away at a household’s perfectly planned finances. Indeed, many of us may have subscribed to services which we … [Read more...]

Easier said than done I know but this is something that's got me through a difficult year so humour me for a few minutes. ;-)I used the poster maker to … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {16 November 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, I do want to say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons - we're frugal so we can afford to do nice things together.1) I made a batch of my homemade orange peel cleaning … [Read more...]
Helping our food bank this Christmas – the update….
Remember my post about the Christmas parcels we're making up for our local food bank? Well today, I thought I'd give you a bit of an update...In case you missed that post, we're basically making some Christmas hampers for local families which we hope to include everything they'll need to cook their Christmas Dinner other than the turkey. ;-) I'm aiming for eight parcels but I've started early so if I get enough for the eight then I'll do more if I have the chance.First things first, I got in touch with our local food bank to make sure that they would be OK with me making these … [Read more...]
