This time last year we'd just spent a fortune on a whole new school uniform to buy for Miss Frugal as she was going up to secondary school. As is the case with lots of schools, the uniform list is extensive with much of it only being available directly from the school or from certain suppliers - all costing more than I could have got it for elsewhere. Even the pencil case and calculator were £10 and 'highly recommended' for students and obviously, she wanted this as she didn't want to be the only one not to have it. Fast forward to this year's back to school preparations and it's been … [Read more...]

Family Fun in Manchester….
We have a rather odd family tradition in this house! Every Summer, we head off to the Trafford centre for the weekend. We stay in the same hotel and do exactly the same things every year and if I’m honest, I probably enjoy it more than any other break we go on through the year! Last Friday afternoon, we rocked up at the Premier Inn at the Trafford centre, dropped our things off and headed straight over to the Trafford centre for our annual family activity of Laser Quest! (Clearly, when I say family activity, I really mean I’ll go sit in Costa for an hour and relax while they run … [Read more...]
My Week {5th July 2015}….
This picture pretty much sums up this last week for me - lots of time in the garden, lots of work to get through and lots of time spent with the kids! It's been such a gorgeous week this week hasn't it? So nice in fact that I've spent most of my week (when I haven't been asleep or at work) sat outside in the garden. My garden isn't the biggest and it certainly isn't the prettiest right now but I have a nice little spot in the shade where my table and chairs are set up and I've really enjoyed sitting out there watching the kids play on the trampoline and putting down all of the ideas that … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {29th May 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. Contrary to popular belief, I'm planning on making more than just mojitos with the mint in my new little herb garden (actually mojitos was my plan but Miss Frugal had other ideas). So this week, we've made mint lemonade which I'll be sharing with you at some point over the next week and after that was a success we even made blueberry version. It tasted delicious - even more so because we made it with our own mint! 2. The kids and Mr Frugal headed off to Wembley on Monday to watch their beloved Boro play in the Championship play off. They … [Read more...]
Wednesday’s Wardrobe – When bargain hunting goes wrong….
Welcome to this week's Wednesday's Wardrobe! In case you don't know, Wednesday’s Wardrobe is a weekly linky that I'll be co-hosting along with two fantastic bloggers, Emma and Sarah. I broke one of my own rules this weekend - I bought some clothes for Miss Frugal without consulting her first. ;-) In my defence, we were at the car boot sale and the lady on the stall we were looking at decided that she was going to reduce everything to 20p. When she started shouting that everything was reduced to 20p I looked at the rail of clothes I was sorting through filled with clothes from shops … [Read more...]
The Best Day Ever…. #WWE #WWENewcastle
Master Frugal is a huge wrestling fan so imagine how excited he was when we were asked if we wanted to go along to the Metro Arena in Newcastle on Thursday to watch WWE Live! From the day he found out we were going he was counting down the sleeps but, I think I was actually more excited than he was because I had a secret - I knew that the lovely, lovely people behind the WWE Live tour had arranged for him to meet one of the Superstars backstage. Honestly, it killed me not telling him but I knew if we managed to keep it a secret it would be such a great surprise. So we got there early on … [Read more...]
