This picture pretty much sums up this last week for me – lots of time in the garden, lots of work to get through and lots of time spent with the kids!
It’s been such a gorgeous week this week hasn’t it? So nice in fact that I’ve spent most of my week (when I haven’t been asleep or at work) sat outside in the garden.
My garden isn’t the biggest and it certainly isn’t the prettiest right now but I have a nice little spot in the shade where my table and chairs are set up and I’ve really enjoyed sitting out there watching the kids play on the trampoline and putting down all of the ideas that have been bubbling away in my head down on paper.
I feel great having got everything in my head down on paper but it’s just been a bit of a mind dump exercise so far. The hard part comes next as I have to make sense of all my random (but colourful) scribblings and actually put some of my ideas into practice rather than just thinking about them!
You might notice the cheeky bottle of wine in the photo above which I was sent to try from I Heart Wine range. It’s a lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio and although I’m probably not the best person to tell you about wines, I will say that it was delicious and I’d certainly drink it again. And again. 😉

Miss Frugal is still loving life as only a 12 year old approaching the Summer Holidays possibly could. She is almost at the end of her first year in senior school and I’m so proud of how she coped going to a school where she didn’t know a single person. She’s blossomed and her confidence is sky high compared to what it used to be – this week she’s had two sleepovers, a trip into the nearby ‘big’ town and been on a 7 mile bike ride with our friends. She amazes me with how much she does and the fact that her phone is constantly buzzing with texts and messages from her friends makes me so happy.

Master Frugal is still my much quieter (and sweeter child) although even he seems to have developed a new found independence in the last few weeks since returning from his school residential. He started the week joining a new football club which he loved and is ending the week in bed with a bit of a fever.
Blogging wise, I’ve decided to take a few months off from the #FabulouslyFrugal weekly linky because one of the reasons that I try to be frugal is so that I can take time to spend time with my children and I want to spend as much time as possible with them over the Summer. I’ll still be blogging, and I know from past years that I probably blog more in the Summer anyway as I get up much earlier than them when I’m off work, but I prefer not to ‘have’ to blog over the Summer if you know what I mean. The #FabulouslyFrugal linky will be back again in September though and we’ll be refreshed and filled with ideas to share with you all!
I’d love to hear about your week. Why don’t you link you with My Week too?

What a lovely week!! I can't wait for the Summer holidays to start. x
We're already in the Summer hols – second week in Scotland – and we're enjoying the relaxation. Wish I was in the garden with a bottle of wine though!
Sounds super, I love occasionally taking the time to sit down and make a plan. I'm always so much more productive afterwards.
Sounds like you've all had a pretty great week x
I should do the brain dump thing, I should give it a try. I know exactly what you mean about the summer, I love the summer holidays and I really try and enjoy them as much as I can without the distractions of blogging and social media. I hope you have a lovely summer x
What a lovely week. Also looking forward to the holidays here.
I need to try that game with my kids too! Sounds that you had a great week!
I can't tell you how much a good brain-dump relieves the stress for me! I often feel like I'm drowning in tasks until I get them all on paper and then it doesn't look so bad. I love your attitude to the summer and blogging too – so nice to get away from the to-do lists and just write when it feels natural 🙂
I feel guilty for sitting out in the garden when the kids aren't here.I like the idea of brain sumping each day as it helps to get it out there.
It sounds like an IDEAL week 😀
Lovely to read about your week cass
Sounds like a lovely week. I have indulged in some cider and wine out in the sun too. Though yesterday our summer fair was cut short by rain, it made a nice change to all the sun we have been having. xx
I have to agree with T, it sounds pretty perfect to me too!
Time in the garden with wine sounds like the perfect week to me!!
Thanks for linking up Looking forward to seeing what you get up to over the summer
