Oh my word, how is it possibly March already?Remember last week when I did all that batch cooking? Well, it's a good job that I did because I ended up unexpectedly working away for half the week so if I hadn't have been so prepared then I can easily see last week descending into a week of takeaways and junk food without me here. ;-) It was brilliant to be so far from home and still be able to let the kids know what was for tea! I still have some mince and onions and some bolognese in the freezer from my adventures last weekend and I made a big batch of … [Read more...]

Why I haven’t planned a single meal in three weeks….
You all know that I'll all about meal planning but for the last three weeks, I haven't planned a single meal. Want to know why?Three weeks ago, our fridge freezer decided to go on strike! By the time we realised, the whole freezer had defrosted and everything in the fridge felt way warmer than it should.Food-wise, we couldn't salvage much at all as the contents of the freezer were fully defrosted so we weren't sure how long it had been off for - I'm all about reducing waste but I couldn't bring myself to cook food or refreeze it in one of our other freezers where there was a chance … [Read more...]

We were sent the VAX Platinum Power MAX to review but all opinions are mine (and Mr Frugal's who built it and was the first to use it).The VAX Platinum Power MAX comes with some pretty big claims - the most impressive of which is that it's proven to out clean the leading rental! It also has a Which? Best Buy and scores highest in the Good Housekeeping Institute's carpet cleaning testing. Impressive, hey? In this post, I'm going to tell you how I feel about it...I have carpets throughout my house so I was looking forward to giving them all a bit of a refresh but if … [Read more...]

Blogging with a full time job is easier than you might think!Today's a bit of a different kind of post for me - it's all about how I manage to have a great work, life, blog balance!I've been asked a couple of times lately how I manage to balance a full-time job, a happy home life and blogging so I thought I'd share a little bit about my life and tell you how I do it. First, a bit of background. One of the reasons I started this blog was to document our journey into living a more frugal lifestyle - something that we needed to do as I wanted to have the flexibility of working less … [Read more...]
Mini £15 Charity Shop Haul…. #SecondHandSeptember
As part of #SecondHandSeptember, we decided to share a mini charity shop haul with you to show you some of the bargains you can pick up.Last week, I told you all about why we were joining in with #SecondHandSeptember and I promised a mini charity shop haul so that's what today's post is all about. I roped Miss Frugal in to help me with because (a) she has a little mini eBay business that she set up as she couldn't get a Summer job and (b) she's a teenage girl who knows her own style and has never (until recently) been a fan of wearing charity shop clothes. Basically, I … [Read more...]
