I'm starting to feel a bit more like myself again after a week of feeling like someone had stamped all over me and sucked out all my energy (drama queen, me?). we didn't really stick to our meal plan at all last week and we actually ended up having McDonalds on two nights when Mr Frugal was at work as I didn't have the energy to even open the fridge but that can be our little secret ;-)Anyway, this week I'm determined we're going to stick to our plan 100% and there will be no McDonalds!Monday - Macaroni cheese Tuesday - Beans on toast as we have multi sports club for an hour from … [Read more...]
Get Organised – the getting a head start on Christmas edition….
I know, I know, the kids have only just gone back to school so it's ridiculous to be talking about Christmas!Or is it?I know a lot of you will be way ahead of the game and be practucally finished your Christmas shopping but I also know that even more of you won't have even started yet. Which is why I thought that I would share some of my getting organised for Christmas tips.Write a list of people you need to buy for - This one's self explanatory really although I just want to add that you shouldn't feel like you have to buy for people.Work out your budget - I work out how … [Read more...]
Cherry bakewell cup cakes with The Great British Bake Off….
I'm loving this series of The Great British Bake Off, as are most of you guys judging by the #GBBO chat on Twitter every Tuesday night ;-)Not only can you watch the show on your TV on a Tuesday night and buy the Showstoppers recipe book that goes alongside it (it's brilliant, I have it), you can now also get the Great British Bake Off App which has just been launched. The App is great and features stacks of easy to find, easy to follow recipes from Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Well worth checking out.To celebrate the launch of the App, myself and nine other bloggers will be … [Read more...]
Cupcake Sunday – the cupcake birthday cake….
Last week I wrote a post about how to ice a cupcake and this week I was planning to make lemon meringue cupcakes as part of my new Cupcake Sunday feature. Except I haven't had time to sit down since I finished work of Friday afternoon, let alone make cupcakes as it's was Miss Frugal's 10th Birthday party today and I've been rushing around all weekend trying to get everything sorted.I do still have a cupcake type post though because Miss Frugal opted for a cupcake cake today instead of a normal shop bought cake. This is the reason for my crash course in cupcake icing last … [Read more...]
Saturday is Caption Day – The one with the random man tangle….
I usually know when I've taken a photo that I can use but I just came across this one when I was going through our holiday snaps. It was supposed to be an action shot of Mr Frugal getting all sporty in the pool playing water polo but, *cough* I think the nice man with the six pack may have distracted me a little. Otherwise I would have noticed the random man tangle going on and zoomed in on that little event!Anyway, seeing as it's Saturday which is of course Caption Day, you have to leave a comment with your funniest caption for this photo. And when you've done that, you should join in … [Read more...]
Cocktails to amaze your friends with #1 – Lumumba….
I'm not a big drinker but when I do drink, I enjoy a nice cocktail.I like my cocktails the way I like my meals - as simple as possible with as few ingredients as I can get away with and my taste has certainly improved since the time that I thought that mixing a cheap bottle of red wine that I won in a raffle with a bottle of Lambrini would make a lovely rose wine. FYI - it doesn't.One of my favourite cocktails is the Lumumba:Apologies for the blurry picture, it was taken by my husband after one too many Lumumbas ;-) Traditionally the Lumumba is made from Brandy, hot chocolate … [Read more...]
