This sign made us laugh yesterday when we were out shopping
I’m not sure what made me laugh most, the fact that Gingerbread Men now appear to be called Ginger Persons or the fact that we, a family of four Ginger Persons, were stood staring at the sign advertising us at the special offer price of 4 for £1.00.
Inspired by this sign, we’ve just made our very own ginger person family….
You can make them even if you’re not ginger lol. All you need to make them is:
-
350g plain flour
- 2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 100g butter or margarine
- 175g light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 tablespoons golden syrup
Mix the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl and then rub in the butter until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs.
Add the sugar and stir in the golden syrup and the egg to make a firm dough, I ended up adding a little bit of water to bind it together.
Roll out your dough to about 5mm thick and cut out your ginger persons, we used loads of other shapes as well so we have ginger hearts, ginger stars and a few ginger Christmas trees. We even cut round miss Frugal’s hand so we have a life size ginger hand.
Bake at 190 c on a greased baking tray for about 10 to 12 mins until they’re a golden brown colour.
When they’re cooled let the kids loose with them and lots of sprinklie things….
And here’s some grown up gingerbread men that I made to cheer Mr Frugal up when he comes in, he’s at work today till 9pm and is fed up that he’s missing the FA cup final and Britains Got Talent!

Thank you……

That was well worth a giggle..
I was wondering what this post was about when I clicked on the title!

LOL at the last photo. We are a family of 'ginger persons' too, well the majority of us have red hair, does that count? Jen.
Mad isn't it, but a bit of a bargain at the same time lol….
The grown up ginger persons are no more, but they were yummy – rude bits
and all!
OMG! That is PC gone bonkers!!
Loving your entirely inappropriate Ginger Personages. Marvellous!
The Gingerbread couple did the job of cheering hubby up – in fact they're
both in his tummy now lol
Husband wasn't up for the photo shoot lol.
We want some more ginger 'person' cutters so we can make some girl ones
aswell
Your ginger bread 'persons' are hilarious! I hadn't realised you couldn't say Gingerbread Men anymore. I better tell my mother, she calls them Gingerbread Boys!!
lol you owe it to the children to make and then eat their gingerbread
people
lmao, gingerbread person indeed! Yours look very yummy and I might be inspired to do some with the kiddies tomorrow now. No good for my flabby tummy, but still….. Mich x
I think a frugal family photo shoot infront of the sign is in order! I got some wonderful Gingerbread family cutters from a fellow blogger for christmas and we adore them
It's political correctness gone made isn't it? Even if it is a bargain lol
