Do you know what I can’t get my head around sometimes?
The fact that we can send people into Space and get them back successfully but we haven’t been able to find a cure for the ugly disease that is Cancer yet.
How can that be?
I lost my Mum and my Brother to Cancer and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that 10 years later (11 for my brother) I still think about them both every day. If I think about it for long enough (apart from making me cry) it makes me angry at the world that they had to suffer like they did and selfishly, it makes me even more angry that I have to go through life not being able to have a joke with my brother or pick up the phone to my Mum when I need advice.

So, I usually try not to dwell on the situation but when an email dropped into my inbox last week from Brioche Pasquier about the Race for Life, I knew that, by taking part I would be doing my bit to try and help find a cure for Cancer so people don’t have to go through what we did.
Miss Frugal wanted to join in too so we’ll be doing the Race for Life together on the 28th June in memory of my Mum and my Brother.

I’ve just set up a Just Giving page and I’d love you to donate but even more so, I’d like you to think about signing up yourself and raising even more money to help beat Cancer.

I agree, Cass, it makes mo sense to spend money foolishly while people are dying every single day of this horrible, horrible disease! Well done you two, hope one day our daughters will live in a cancer-free world!xx
I'm sorry to hear that awful disease affected your family so much. They'd be proud of you running for a cause. Good luck with it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum and brother. It's is baffling to think of all the seemingly frivolous things we have achieved – like space travel and gadgets that do housework for you, but haven't found a cure for cancer yet. Good luck in the race!
