This morning was the morning that I realised that my little girl isn’t really a little girl anymore!
She’s nine now and I know I’m probably a little biased but she seems so much more grown up than a lot of her friends at school, even so, I was surprised when she asked me this morning if we could take all of her Princess posters down from her bedroom walls as she was too old for them now.
I wasn’t too surprised when she showed me what she wanted to put up in place of the Princess posters because she’s getting more into music and celebrities lately but I think her Dad might have a shock when he comes home from work to find all the Pink Princessy posters replaced by JLS, One Direction and a rather hot looking Justin Bieber (Is is wrong that I think that? ;-)).
As if that wasn’t traumatic enough for me, she then announced that she also thought it was about time that she got rid of most of her teddies and dolls! She decided to put them all in the garage and bagged them all up into a couple of black sacks but somewhere between starting this and putting the last teddy in, she decided that actually, she might like to keep them. So she got them all back out again and we’ve compromised by tucking them all in around the top of her bed frame so she can still see them when she goes to sleep.
I don’t think I can cope with much more of this growing up lark – tell me it gets easier!

oh bless you .it gets harder but in the nicest way. my soon to be 18 year old is off to uni in september. we have a department open day to go to soon and i will be the one sobbing in the background. god knows what i will be like in september. the youngest is off to high school next year, i think my link to childhood will be over then. you do get to share their excitement as things change. as my youngest tried to point out to me the other day, he was quite old enough to be left in the house alone whilst his stepdad and i went shopping(he's 10). i replied no my love not until your 32.
ha ha bless him, it was worth a try 😉
I'm dreading when my two go off to Uni or leave home, I'll be a blubbering wreck I think. I just want them to stay the age they are right now before all the teenage hormones set in!
xx
Ha welcome to my world of Justin Bieber, JLS and One Direction posters! (and yes you're bordering on just plain wrong with the Justin Bieber thing – he's 12! Plus JLS are MUCH better! lol) Madam has never got rid of her cuddly toys, even if they're in a massive storage bag thing in her room, they still have to remain. Barbies are still there too, even if Monster High dolls are rapidly taking over in her affections and she's been ordering up Sylvanian Families with her birthday money on amazon today. No matter how much they grow up they're always our little girls!
aaaw she will always be my little girl won't she? Bethan was looking at Monster High dolls the other day as she's never really seen them before – I suspect this may be the next new craze I should prepare myself for lol
