Do you have a Christmas cupboard? We do, because as much as I say that you don't need to spend a fortune on extra food and drink over Christmas and that a giant tub of Twiglets is never a good idea, even if it's in a Christmassy box, I am partial to the odd food and drink treat over the festive period.Rather than do a big Christmas shop right before Christmas and spend a fortune on the treats we all like for Christmas, I have a Christmas cupboard (actually, it's a huge bag on top of the fridge but we'll call it a Christmas cupboard as everyone else I know who does this has an actual … [Read more...]
WWE Live at Newcastle….
A couple of years ago we were invited along to one of the WWE Live events at Newcastle Metro Arena and although I was most definitely not a fan of wrestling, Master Frugal was so obviously I couldn't say no.On the night of the event, we headed to the Arena with me feeling more than a little smug about how good a parent I was being- sacrificing an evening of binge watching whatever the latest thing was on Netflix to take my boy to see some of the big name stars he loved watching on TV.What happened next was as big a shock to me as it was to everyone else who knows me - I absolutely … [Read more...]
Homemade Candy Cane Vodka….
A few years ago I had a go at making Skittles Vodka and the result was amazing! This Christmas I seem to have developed a Pinterest inspired candy cane obsession so I thought I'd have a go at making candy cane vodka to see if it could top the skittles version. It was actually easier to make than the skittles vodka as there was no faffing about with separating the colours or straining the drink before it was ready to serve and it has a lovely Christmassy flavour. It also looks very pretty and would make a lovely gift for someone who enjoys the odd tipple at Christmas.I got my bottle … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {18th November 2016}….

I think I've managed three weeks of remembering now so I thought I'd share it with you today. I will say that the thing that finally did it for me was buying one of those fold into itself shopper bags which I keep in my handbag now. As soon as I unpack it, I fold it up and put it back in there so I always have it with me.2) … [Read more...]

5 ways to punish a teenager without shouting at them….
Don't tell them I told you this but my children are generally pretty awesome and we have a great relationship. They constantly amaze me with the things they do and they genuinely make me proud every single day. That's not to say that they're perfect though and there are times when they misbehave and they need to be punished because no matter how rarely they're naughty, if I don't let them know that their actions will have consequences then I wouldn't be doing my job as a parent, would I?I don't shout at them when I'm punishing them (or at least I try not to) because when I do I … [Read more...]
