You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it’s from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and so I love to do a monthly post dedicated to sharing some of my bargains with you!
Right, this first one is quite possibly one of my favourite pre-loved bargains in a long time. 😁
My Nana used to have an old liquorice all sorts jar that she always kept filled with sweets and if you knew her then you knew about the contents of the jar and would always at some point during a visit end up helping yourself to a sweet and if you didn’t know her then you can guarantee that you would be offered something from the jar before you left.
Every week, she’d get a visit from her ‘Rington’s man’ and she’d often buy some kind of toffees from him to add to her jar along with the usual suspects in there like Shebert lemons, mint humbugs and something that was red and tasted like Germoline antiseptic cream smells.
When I spotted this Ringtons ceramic jar at the car boot sale a couple of weeks ago, it made me smile straight away and reminded me of my Nana’s sweet jar which is something I’ve not thought about for years.

I told my partner about the memory it gave me and he asked straight away how much it was – I think he would have bought it regardless but it was just £2 so he bought it for me and then on the way home, stopped at the shop to buy some mint humbugs and shebert lemons to start off my very own sweet jar.
I love it and it’s makes me smile every time someone reaches for a sweet from it!
Look at this gorgeous piece of fabric…

It’s from Liberty and I bought it from Vinted for £3 which is pretty cheap for this fabric but it’s a leftover piece from some cushions and it’s the perfect size for what I have in mind for it.
My plan with it is to make it into a draught excluder for our new house as I’m sure there’ll be a fair few draughts in there over the Winter and we won’t have time (or money probably) to fix everything straight away so a few draught excluders will come in handy and I wanted some nice ones rather than the ones you can buy from the shop so I decided the only way I would get that without spending a fortune would be to make my own.
I used to have the most beautiful Burberry cashmere scarf which was a splurge purchase way back when I was less responsible with money! 😁
It was definitely cost more than a scarf should cost but I got so much use out of it and I did love it! Sadly, it was in my car when it was stolen a few years ago and obviously was nowhere to be found when the car was eventually recovered a month later. The police said my car had probably been stolen to order and it was actually used in a crime elsewhere in the country so even when it was found and brought back to a garage near where we live, I didn’t want it back.
Luckily, there was an accident at the recovery centre that the car was brought back to after whatever evidence that was needed was collected from it which left the car with more damage than it had been found with by the police so the insurance company agreed to write it off. It was a 50/50 decision at the time though and it was a battle to get them to agree to it so at the time, I never claimed for anything in the car at the time when it was stolen as I didn’t want to push my luck so I just resigned myself to life without my favourite scarf.
And then at the end of last month, I sold my old camera and got more than I thought for it so I decided to treat myself as I needed a new scarf for our trip to Iceland and whilst I could have absolutely bought a cheaper one, I thought I’d use some of the money from selling my camera to replace my stolen scarf!

I bought it second hand from Vinted from a seller who sells vintage designer items.
It did concern me that it might be fake so I did a couple of things before I bought it…
First up, I checked the sellers feedback for all the other designer items that she’d sold over the last few months and noted that there were no negative reviews and lots of positive reviews saying how happy buyers were with their bargains.
The next thing I did was do a reverse image search to check the details with similar Burberry scarves online, checking the colours, design and label.
When I was happy that it was genuine, I made an offer and a week later, was wearing my new scarf on holiday in Iceland. 😁
And that’s pretty much it for this month’s pre-loved bargains from me!
If you want to find out more about how I find bargains on Vinted then this how to buy on Vinted post is perfect for you – it’s the perfect place to start if you want to start finding some pre-loved bargains of your own.
Also, I know that money is tight for many of us right now so I did just want to say that usually when I buy anything pre-loved, I try and only use money that I’ve made from things that I’ve sold on Vinted so I rarely pay actual money for anything you see that I’ve bought from there. Here’s a post about how much I made in a weekend selling on Vinted a little while ago to give you an idea!
If you do decide to sign up to Vinted, I’d be super grateful if you use my refer a friend link. 😁
So that’s what I’ve bought pre-loved this month. I’d love to see your bargains so feel free to tag me in any Instagram posts and I’ll pop over and see what you’ve been buying!
