Welcome to my monthly pre-loved bargain post – one of my favourite things to write because it gives me an excuse to share the second-hand treasures I’ve brought home lately.
I’ll not go into things too much but I’ve been poorly for a while now and because of that, I’ve spent a lot of time at home while I’ve been waiting for an operation. I tried to get out of the house every day by going for a little walk so most days, I walked into our little village just to get out of the house.
There are five charity shops on our high street so you can imagine how many times I’ve been in each one since I started my daily walks, can’t you? 😁
I’ve managed to pick up some great bargains in my many visits to the shops over the last few months which I’ll no doubt share many of over the next few months as I share more about how we’re renovating our new home.
I’m sat in my dining room writing this now so I thought that would be a great place to start though.
The dining room is my favourite room in the house and although it’s not finished, it was the first room that we pulled together when we moved in. The fireplace surround was a yellowy cream colour so we painted that with Farrow and Ball’s ‘Dimity’colour and added two candlesticks which cost £1.50 for the two, a wanderlust print which cost 50p, and a vase that cost £2.
The flowers in the vase weren’t as cheap as I wanted flowers that looked like real flowers rather than fake and I love the arrangement so they were absolutely worth it.
The mirror is new from Dunelm as I had a really specific shape and style in my head.
The wall lights were from Facebook Marketplace and cost £15 but we sold the gold ones that were there before these ones for £10 so really they only cost us £5.

I love the fireplace and there is nowhere in the house that I like to sit than this seat at our dining room table, also pre-loved.

The last thing I wanted to share today that’s in our dining room is our little storage bench which we have in our bay window. We almost didn’t buy it as it was in need of a full on makeover but we could see that it could be exactly what we’d been looking for if we could give it a bit of a glow up.

So we parted with our £10 and brought it home with us.
I ordered some upholstery fabric in the same William Morris Strawberry Thief fabric as our curtains and spent some time recovering the cushion and repainting the base and I love how it turned out.

The room is a real mix of new and pre-loved and it’s such a lovely welcoming room.
There are some original floorboards underneath the ugly carpet but we haven’t got the time or energy to restore them just yet so for now, I’m going to enjoy the room as it is.
I’d love you follow me on Twitter and it would be amazing to see you over on my Facebook page and on Instagram.
