You all know that I love a good pre-loved bargain, whether it’s from a charity shop, the car boot sale or even from somewhere online and so I love to do a monthly post dedicated to sharing some of my bargains with you!
I’m sharing a very spendy purchase to start this month’s post with but bear with me. 😁
We travel as much as we can, both in the UK and abroad, and I’ve been looking for a rucksack to take on my travels with me for a while now. I wanted something that I loved the look of but that was functional with enough space to pack enough for a night or two away but not too big that it would be impractical for a day out. I’d seen one I loved when we were on a day out last Summer which I found on Google for the grand old price of £139 so I’d ruled out that one but wanted something similar with the roll top style in a pretty colour but set myself a budget that was much less than the ‘perfect’ one that I’d seen.
This week, we had a date afternoon and went for lunch in a cute little market town an hour away from where live and as we were wandering around the shops, I found it. I found a rucksack that was the perfect size, with the roll top I wanted and lots of storage pockets with the added bonus of being a pretty colour. It was much less than the £139 of the original perfect rucksack at £74.95 but was still a huge amount for a non-essential purchase.
It was exactly what I was looking for other than the price –
I took a photo of it in the shop and then went away and had a good search online to see if I could find it cheaper anywhere else. I was able to find it a little bit cheaper but not significantly so I went to Vinted to see what I could find on there searching for the specific make and type of bag.
I found three straight away and one was new with tags on so that was the one I went with. It was selling for £50 so we were definitely getting closer to the price I was happy to pay but I thought I’d try a cheeky offer of £40 on it. The seller messaged me and said she’d bought it for a trip that was cancelled and couldn’t accept £40 as it was brand new and worth almost double that. She countered at £45 which I jumped at – especially as I had £27 in my Vinted balance from recent sales.
So, I get that £45 is a lot for a bag but this one is perfect for travel and day trips I’ll use it so much that I think it was worth it.
I’ve been looking for a suitcase for a little while as we’re going away in the Summer with the kids and have three cabin sized suitcases booked to take on the flight but we don’t own three. I usually borrow one from Miss Frugal but turns out she’s already loaned it out to Master Frugal who is going away at the same time.
So that leaves us with just one suitcase that fits the very specific sizes that the airline allow.
I was super pleased to find this one in the charity shop in our village for the bargain price of £4.
Not only is it the right size, but it’s also fun enough that one of the kids will enjoy pulling it through the airport leaving us to juggle the other suitcases and the bags as well as manoeuvring the four of us through the airport.
I’ve not bought too much from charity shops this month as I’m really trying to be selective about what I buy and to be really considered about the things that I need. I know that I need some super comfy trousers and maxi skirts for work and some nice t-shirts for the Summer so I’ve been very intentional about what I’ve bought this month.
These are the work trousers that I bought from Vinted last week.
The photos don’t do them justice but they actually look really lovely on and they’re great quality.
They are wider than I would usually wear but I feel comfortable in them and the fast that they have elasticated waist and are super stretchy means that they are comfortable enough to wear all day at work. They cost £6 so I’m super pleased with them.
I also bought this Joules skirt for £5.99 which is so comfortable and very me. I love a good flowery fabric. 😁
It’s a jersey material which makes it so comfortable to wear all day. I love it and feel like it’s going to be a real staple for over the Summer. In fact, it’s so comfortable that after wearing it for one day, I headed to Vinted to see if I could find some similar skirts from Joules in a different pattern. I currently have bids on two so wish me luck.
If you want to find out more about how I find bargains on Vinted then this how to buy on Vinted post is perfect for you – it’s the perfect place to start if you want to start finding some pre-loved bargains of your own.
Also, I know that money is tight for many of us right now so I did just want to say that usually when I buy anything pre-loved, I try and only use money that I’ve made from things that I’ve sold on Vinted so I rarely pay actual money for anything you see that I’ve bought from there. Here’s a post about how much I made in a weekend selling on Vinted a little while ago to give you an idea!
So that’s what I’ve bought pre-loved this month. I’d love to see your bargains so feel free to tag me in any Instagram posts and I’ll pop over and see what you’ve been buying!
