Warning - Shouty, whingey alert! If your child comes home with an invite to a party (assuming they haven't lost it in the deep dark depths of their book bags), what do you do?Me, because I like to think I'm a nice, courteous kind of person, I reply to say 'yes thanks we'd love to come' or 'no thank you, we can't make it'. I would then add it in to my phone as a reminder because I do have a history of forgetting parties until about five minutes before! Not everyone would do the same though.Last week was Miss Frugal's birthday party and we invited 40 children (don't ask), up … [Read more...]
Oh No!
Mr Frugal has been struggling lately with his Vertigo and our doctor has finally referred him to a specialist to see what can be done to help him. He's had more attacks lately and it's starting to affect our lives more than before. Last week he had to ring me at work on his day off to get someone to pick the kids up and take them to school as he was having an attack and while we were on holiday a few weeks ago, he had an attack so bad in the airport that I didn't think they'd let us on the plane at one point!Anyway, we got a letter through from our doctors the other day with the telephone … [Read more...]
Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Stir fry advice please….
I'm starting to feel a bit more like myself again after a week of feeling like someone had stamped all over me and sucked out all my energy (drama queen, me?). we didn't really stick to our meal plan at all last week and we actually ended up having McDonalds on two nights when Mr Frugal was at work as I didn't have the energy to even open the fridge but that can be our little secret ;-)Anyway, this week I'm determined we're going to stick to our plan 100% and there will be no McDonalds!Monday - Macaroni cheese Tuesday - Beans on toast as we have multi sports club for an hour from … [Read more...]

Cherry bakewell cup cakes with The Great British Bake Off….
I'm loving this series of The Great British Bake Off, as are most of you guys judging by the #GBBO chat on Twitter every Tuesday night ;-)Not only can you watch the show on your TV on a Tuesday night and buy the Showstoppers recipe book that goes alongside it (it's brilliant, I have it), you can now also get the Great British Bake Off App which has just been launched. The App is great and features stacks of easy to find, easy to follow recipes from Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Well worth checking out.To celebrate the launch of the App, myself and nine other bloggers will be … [Read more...]
Cupcake Sunday – the cupcake birthday cake….
Last week I wrote a post about how to ice a cupcake and this week I was planning to make lemon meringue cupcakes as part of my new Cupcake Sunday feature. Except I haven't had time to sit down since I finished work of Friday afternoon, let alone make cupcakes as it's was Miss Frugal's 10th Birthday party today and I've been rushing around all weekend trying to get everything sorted.I do still have a cupcake type post though because Miss Frugal opted for a cupcake cake today instead of a normal shop bought cake. This is the reason for my crash course in cupcake icing last … [Read more...]
