I am a pretty laid back parent and although I know my parenting style isn’t for everyone, there’s no getting away from the act that, at 12 and almost 15 I’ve had a pretty easy time so far over the tween and teen years. And before you say it, I know, I’m touching wood as I type!I know that I’m not going to convince you that my lack of screen time restrictions and my relaxed approach to bedtime are a good thing and that’s OK with me because what’s right for your children isn’t necessarily right for mine and vice versa.I don’t think I’m doing too badly though with Miss Frugal recently … [Read more...]
How your friends and family can help when you’re saving money….
Over the last few months I've been trying to share some guest posts from my favourite frugal and thrifty Bloggers and today I have a great post from the lovely Hannah from FeastStyleThrive.com for you.Saving money can be tough. Particularly if you’re doing it long term to pay off debt or save up for something big. It can feel like a very lonely experience too because you’re unable to socialise as much and can’t participate in things that your friends might be doing.Well, effective money saving actually requires a lot of help and support from your friends and family so don’t … [Read more...]

Three Prom dresses for under £7.50….
A couple of months ago I was sat with Miss Frugal watching a TV show about a group of girls getting ready for their proms and the cost of some of the dresses they were wearing was astronomical - I'm talking a month's worth of food shopping budget on the dress alone. By the time you add on the shoes, the bag and the professional hair and make up, you could probably pay for a family holiday! We have a good year or so left before we need to start thinking about prom and all that comes with it but I decided to prove to Miss Frugal that you don't need to spend a small fortune on a dress by … [Read more...]
21 beautiful homemade Spring wreath ideas….
Last year I made a really pretty homemade rag wreath which I hung in my little hallway so people see it as soon as they come in to my house. You honestly wouldn't believe how many people have complimented me on it and asked where I got it from so they could get one too. ;-)I'm going to make another one to switch it out as I fancy a bit of a change but I wanted to make something a little bit different this time - maybe something with flowers to celebrate the return of the sunshine. The problem is that there's so many ideas on Pinterest that I would love to make that I can't decide … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {21st April 2017}….
1) I've become a little bit washi tape obsessed this last month or so and I've shared a few washi tape creations (including our washi tape manicure and a DIY savings jar with washi tape embellishments) but this week I did something super simple. I simply wrapped some washi tape around the metal container of some tealights I had to add some extra sparkle to them and they look brilliant.I used some of the maxi tealights that we got from Morrisons last year after we had a couple of powercuts in the space of a week so I had to go round the tealight twice with the washi tape but if you're … [Read more...]
