** This post was sponsored by Tesco Bank but all ideas and tips are my own**Autumn is probably one of my favourite times of the year for getting outside and doing things with the kids. The colours outside are so pretty and there’s so much to do this season that’s more fun than at any other time of the year! Obviously, me being me, I try to find things for us to do that aren’t going to cost much, if anything at all, so when the lovely guys from Tesco Bank asked me to share some frugal ideas for Autumn Family Fun, I had plenty! 😉Here’s a few frugal family fun things that are on … [Read more...]
Is the TasteCard worth the money….
Have you heard of the tastecard? If not, read on to find out how you can save 50% off your bill when you eat out and how you can get a 60-day trial for just £1!Remember my 'Five Fantastic Free Trials' post a couple of weeks ago? After I'd shared the five free trials with you, I cheekily added in a 60 day trial of the tastecard which, although it cost £1, was almost free and well worth it when you considered the amount of money you could save if you ate out even just once in that 60 day period.I ordered my own at the time I wrote the post as it sounded like a great deal and … [Read more...]
Our alternative to Halloween Cake Pops (and 9 other spooky treats you’ll want to take a bite of)….
Halloween is a great excuse for getting the kids in the kitchen and letting their imaginations run wild by encouraging them to make spooky treats! I have some great ideas for you today....I had a plan to astound you with my cake pop making skills this week but it went disastrously wrong and I think that I'm going to have to give in and admit that cake pops are clearly never going to be my 'thing'.We were alright up until a certain point and we had our blood red cake crumbs ready to go but when it came to getting the cake mix to the right cake pop consistency we just couldn't get it … [Read more...]
This is why your next hoover should NOT be a Dyson….
Lots of people swear by their Dyson and whenever they buy a new hoover, the Dyson range is the first (and often only) place that they will look. I used to be a Dyson fan too, until I tried a Shark hoover! We first reviewed a Shark hoover last year when we reviewed the Shark Lift Away Hoover (which is actually reduced to £179.99 on Amazon right now aff link). I struggled to see how it could possibly be better than the hoover we had at the time and almost said no to the review for that reason - until I saw the brilliant reviews of it on Amazon!I absolutely loved our Shark hoover … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {6th October 2017}….
We're actually away right now which isn't very money saving but we did do a few things to keep the price of our break way down so I thought I'd tell you about them today....1) We've managed to get away a few times this year thanks to a LOT of shopping around and some flexibility with airports and dates. Our holiday to Milan earlier this year cost us a little over £400 in a 4* hotel because we looked at airports we wouldn't usually flight from, in this case Edinburgh. This time, we booked in advance and looked nationwide so we might be flying from Heathrow but we got return flights for the … [Read more...]
Five reasons why you don’t meal plan….
If you already plan your meals in advance then this post probably isn't for you but if you don't you really should read on because planning your meals will save you time and money every single week!1) I don't have time! OK, I get that meal planning can take a little bit of time once a week but it's totally worth it for the time you save during the rest of the week.I spend about twenty minutes on a Sunday morning having a quick look at what food we already have in and writing a meal plan based on that which I then use to write my shopping list. That extra time on a Sunday morning … [Read more...]
