I have about twenty things to be getting on with right at this very moment (including writing up a post for some amazing KitKat fudge that you’re going to LOVE and telling you about my shiny new business cards) but my website is down thanks to some sort of behind the scenes technical sorcery.
So rather than dwell on that, I thought I’d go all blogger old school and do a ‘What’s in my Handbag’ kind of post which is kind of blogging related as my handbag is fresh from the UK Money Bloggers Conference….
I took my trusty Kate Spade bag as it’s big enough to fit lots in but can still be work crossbody which is what I wanted for a busy day.
I have my lip gloss, perfume and a hairbrush in my bag but I forgot my Vaseline which really annoyed me as I do get quite dry lips and because I forgot my trusty pot of Vaseline it looked like I was topping up my lipstick all through the day. This would have been infinitely better if I hadn’t taken my bright pink super glossy lip gloss! 😉
A notebook and pen
Every time I go somewhere like this, I buy a shiny new notebook but this time I completely forgot as I was rushing about like a mad woman the week before. I met my lovely friend Becky at Kings Cross and she whipped out a notebook she’d bought me because she’d known I must have forgotten as I hadn’t mentioned it.
I’m not normally one for business cards but last time I went to a bloggers conference they were getting passed about all over the place. I realised that sharing your card with someone you meet is a great way to remember who you’ve been speaking to so this time around I got my own set made and I love them that much that I handed them out left right and centre. I love my business cards because they represent me quite well I think – mine are made out of recycled t-shirts but I’ve seen some amazing wooden ones that cost a bit more but would really make you stand out. They’re quite simple really with just my name and email on the front and my logo on the back but I know you’d normally put more on there – I just like simple and plain personally.
I rarely carry cash and never put my card back in my purse so it’s pretty much redundant really. I carry it mainly because I’m always determined that I’m going to using it and actually putting my debit card back after I’ve used it. The determination usually follows me not being able to find my card when I’m at the front of a long queue needing to pay for something and lasts for no more than three days before I’m back to just throwing it back in my bag.
I love sunglasses so I took my favourite pair with me even though the forecast wasn’t great. You never know when the sun’s going to pop out though so I took them anyway.
My phone, a phone charger and a power bank
It’s not an option to run out of power at a blogging event so I had the biggest charger fully charged up ready to keep me going throughout the day. I may have slightly over-reacted as I didn’t get below 50% despite having my phone in my hand literally all day.
A pot of honey
I *may* have popped an opened but not used pot of honey from the amazing hotel breakfast buffet in my bag. To be fair though, I was planning on putting it on my toast until I spotted the Nutella packets and I didn’t want to waste it so I thought I’d bring it home.
